We never could have imagined this. Normally we don’t walk in the streets of major cities when it is dark but we had no choice. We came from a restaurant and the metro was closed at 21:30!!! How is this possible? Who came up with this idea, leaving the Italian tax investments in a metro network unused for many possible peak hours each evening and early night. You don’t have to be bright to know this is not the best financial decision on the back of the Italian society.
After a hot day, it cools down and the crowds come alive. The streets are packed with people, shops stay open and the disco music boosts out of the speakers. You can hardly pass. Have you ever seen such crowds outside without special event?

ReplyDeleteAh, this reminds me of when we went to Rome! The streets were so busy at night. We went out for dinner each night and walked home through the busy streets. Our hotel was just around the corner from Piazza di Spagna.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a lot of people! Looks like a nice night to come out to enjoy the weather and nightlife. I hope you were able to eventually get back to your hotel.
