Mummies at the Archeological Museum of La Serena

The Archeological Museum of La Serena is modest but shows visitors a collection of artifacts from all over the country. It tells the history of nomads traveling across the Andes. Pottery and other tools are on display. The most interesting piece for us was a mummy of about 3.000 years old. You could still clearly see the body and head. We were surprised how small this adult person was. We also liked the statue from Easter Island.

Het Archeologisch Museum van La Serena is bescheiden maar toont de bezoekers een grote collectie geschiedkundige voorwerpen van overal in het land. Men verteld er de verhalen van nomaden die het Andes gebergte oversteken. Potten en andere werktuigen worden er tentoongesteld. Het meest belangrijke voor ons was een 3.000 jaar oude mummie. Je kon nog heel goed het lichaam en hoofd onderscheiden. We waren verrast hoe klein een volwassen persoon was in die periode. We waren ook onder de indruk door een Paaseiland beeld.
