Romney Manor estate, botanical gardens in St. Kitts

Most botanical gardens we have visited are indoor green houses. In The Netherlands and Belgium we don't have the climate to enjoy hundreds of trees and flowers during the winter period. Here in St. Kitts, the botanical gardens contain many different kind of palm trees. Some we have never seen before. Many trees and bushes grow fruit and berries.

These 400 years old gardens are well maintained and the wooden cottage contains a museum and shop. Here they show visitors how to make hand painted cloth and T-shirts. On one of the pictures, you see a lady at work. Behind the cottage end products are drying in the sun.

De meeste botanische tuinen die we bezocht hebben waren in reuze glazen kasten opgezet. In Nederland en België hebben we geen geschikt klimaat voor vele bomen en kleurrijke bloemen gedurende de winterperiode. Hier in St. Kitts is dit een ander verhaal, we hebben nog nooit zoveel verschillende palmbomen gezien. In de meeste bomen en struiken hangen ook nog eens fruit en bessen. 

Deze 400 jaar oude tuinen zijn goed onderhouden en het houten huis bevat een museum en winkel. Hier toont men bezoekers hoe handgeschilderde stoffen en T-shirts worden gemaakt. Op een foto zien we een vrouw aan het werk. In de achtertuin hangen enkele beschilderde producten te drogen..

Macro photography at University Botanic Gardens in Nové Mĕsto, Prague

This more than 100 year old garden in Prague contains many fascinating trees, ponds and flowers. The enormous greenhouse is around 70 years old and fully restored. This is a nice opportunity for me to have a relaxing walk and practise my macro photography. The garden must be amazing in the summer when most flowers are in bloom.

Deze meer dan 100 jaar oude tuin in Praag is een verzameling van vele mooie bomen, vijvertjes en bloemen. De enorme serre die meer als 70 jaar oud is, werd volledig gerestoreerd. Dit is een uitstekende mogelijkheid voor een ontspannen wandeling en het oefenen van mijn macro fotografie. De tuin moet ongelooflijk zijn in de zomer als alle bloemen in bloei staan..

Botanic Garden, Madrid

The Botanic Garden in Madrid near the central station of Atocha is a nice place to visit. This time of year (April), there were not so many flowers but it was still colourful.

De Botanische tuin in Madrid dicht bij het het centraal station Atocha is een mooi park om te bezoeken. Gedurende deze tijd van het jaar (April), zijn er niet zoveel bloemen in bloei maar het was toch zeer kleurvol.
