Okura Prestige Brunch, Bangkok

The Okura Prestige in Bangkok is a five star Japanese hotel. It is well known for its restaurants, worldwide. After some internet research, the hotel was recommended as one of the best for the Sunday brunch. We tried it and can only confirm.

They serve a large variety of excellent food: sashimi, sushi, oysters, perfect prepared starters, lobster, fish, warm dishes, cheese and super desserts. The buffet formula can be selected with a free flow of soft drinks, wine or champagne. From the terrace, you have excellent views of the city centre of Bangkok. If you enjoy good food and luxury on a Sunday afternoon, go to the Okura Prestige brunch, reservations are required.

Het Okura Prestige in Bangkok is een Japans vijf sterren hotel. Het is zeer bekend om zijn goede restaurants, wereldwijd. Na een klein onderzoek op het internet, was dit hotel aanbevolen als één van de beste voor een brunch in Bangkok. We probeerden het en kunnen enkel confirmeren. 

Ze serveren een grote varieteit van uitstekende gerechten: sashimi, sushi, oesters, perfect klaar gemaakte voorgerechten, kreeft, melkbiggetje, vis, warme gerechten, kaas en heel veel desserts. De buffet formule kan worden gekozen met onbeperkte frisdranken, wijn of champagne. Van op het terras heb je uitstekende zichten op het stadscentrum van Bangkok. Als je van heel goed eten houdt op een zondag middag, kies dan voor het Okura Prestige, reserveren is noodzakelijk.

Indigo Pearl brunch, the best Phuket has to offer

The Indigo Pearl Hotel in North West Phuket has an exceptional and unique design. They combine factory elements, machine displays, metal constructions with ultimate comfort and luxury. A strange feeling when you see this for the first time. The brunch takes place in a restaurant behind the swimming pool in the middle of the garden.

We selected the brunch including cocktails, wines and drinks. A choice of cocktails were served at the table. The buffet and live cooking’s consist of exclusive products. From the cold side we tried freshly cut sashimi out of a full size tuna and salmon, we had different kind of oysters with liquors, sushi, little prepared starters and marinated fish.

The warm fish and meat dishes were prepared a la minute. You could choose your piece of fish or meat from the counter and they would grill or bake it. There was a large variety of sauces. The diversity of meat shows the quality level of the brunch: wagyu filet, wagyu entrecote, rack of lamb, young pig and more.

The dessert counter was like a French patisserie: with cakes, fruit, chocolate and macarons. Every sweet lover finds something he loves. We travel all over the world and enjoyed brunches in many places. The brunch of the Indigo Pearl is without any doubt, the best we ever experienced. Two weeks later we returned for a second Sunday of ultimate luxury. After each brunch, we decided to walk on the beach for a few hours. Burning some callories is also important.

Het Indigo Pearl hotel in noordwest Phuket heeft een bijzonder en uniek ontwerp. Men combineert er fabriekselementen, machine kunstwerken en metalen constructies met het ultieme comfort en luxe. Een raar gevoel als je dit voor de eerste keer ziet. De brunch neemt plaats in het restaurant achter het zwembad in het midden van de tuin.

Wij kozen de formule inclusief cocktails, wijnen en andere dranken. Een selectie cocktails werd aan de tafel geserveerd. Op het buffet en bij de live cooking stations worden exclusieve producten gebruikt. Als koude gerechten kozen we voor de vers gesneden tonijn en zalm rechtstreeks uit een volledige vis, verschillende soorten oesters met likeur, sushi, kleine vooraf klaargemaakte amuses en gemarineerde vis.

Warme vis of vlees schotels worden a la minute voor u gemaakt. Je kiest je stuk vis of vlees en men bakt of grilt het voor u. Er is een grote variëteit in sauzen. De verschillende soorten vlees tonen onmiddellijk de kwaliteit van de brunch aan: wagyu filet pur, wagyu entrecote, lamskroon, speenvarken en nog meer. 

Bij het dessert denk je aan een Franse patissier: taartjes met fruit, chocolade, mouse, cakes en makarons. Iedere zoetebek vindt hier zijn gading. Overal ter wereld hebben we al naar brunches geweest maar de brunch in het Indigo Pearl hotel te Phuket is zonder enige twijfel onze beste ervaring. Twee weken later gingen we terug om nog een zondag van de ultieme luxe te genieten. Na de brunch maakten we nog een strandwandeling van enkele uren om de overtollige calorieën te verbranden, dit is ook belangrijk.

Kabuki brunch in the JW Mariott Hotel, Phuket

On the Thai island Phuket, Sunday brunches are very popular and most Five Star hotels compete to be among the best. JW Mariott comes with a Japanese cuisine concept in their Kabuki restaurant. The hotel is located in the north of the island on the long Mai Khao beach. Ideal for a walk after the brunch.

This is Japanese cuisine at its best. They offer a cold buffet with traditional sushi and sashimi. The Chef has been creative with flavored sushi balls and spiced tuna tataki. At the warm food stations, chefs prepare a la minute, fish and meat on a hot teppanyaki plate. There is also a vegetable stand and tempura station offering shrimps, crab and asparagus.

To end our brunch we tried a dessert of tempura ice cream, the confrontation of ice cold ice with burning hot oil. The desert was a special experience and the brunch was excellent. When you like the Japanese cuisine you should absolutely consider going to the Sunday brunch of JW Mariott in Phuket. Enjoy it.

Op het Thaise eiland Phuket zijn Sunday Brunches heel populair. De meeste Vijf Sterren hotels zijn met elkaar in competitie om een top brunch aan te bieden. JW Mariott komt met een Japans concept in hun Kabuki restaurant. Het hotel ligt in het noorden van het eiland op Mai Khao Beach, ideaal voor achteraf een wandeling op het strand te maken.

Dit is de Japanse keuken op zijn best. Men biedt er een traditioneel koud buffet met sushi en sashimi. De chef was ook creatief met op smaak gebrachte sushi balletjes en gekruide tonijn tataki. Bij de warme keuken, maken koks a la minute, vis en vlees klaar op een hete teppanyaki plaat. Er is ook een groenten station en tempura keuken waarbij garnalen, krab en asperges worden gefrituurd. 

Om onze brunch te eindigen, probeerden we tempura ijs. Een confrontatie tussen het ijskoude ijs en de hete frituurolie. Het nagerecht was een speciale ervaring en de brunch was gewoon uitstekend. Als je van de Japanse keuken houdt moet je zeker overwegen naar de brunch van de JW Mariott in Phuket te gaan. Geniet er van.

Brunch at the Hilton Munich Park

When we are in Asia, we love Sunday brunches. High quality hotel chains organise these almost every week. Being in Munich on a Sunday and having to catch a plane in the evening, we looked for a hotel offering a brunch.

Most of the Munich high quality hotels do offer these events but not during the summer. The Hilton Munich Park offers a brunch the whole year long. We made reservations a few days in advance.

The views of the city from the top floor of the hotel are very nice. The brunch was all inclusive, cold and warm starters, main courses, cheeses, desserts and drinks. Everything was in buffet services adding some life cooking stations. We would categorise this brunch as expensive for the quality they offer.

Als we in Azië zijn houden we er van naar een zondagsbrunch te gaan. Hoog aangeschreven hotelketens organiseren deze bijna elke week. Daar we op een zondag in München waren met die avond nog een geplande vlucht, besloten we te kijken of er geen brunch in de stad werd aangeboden.

De meeste hotels bieden echter geen brunch aan tijdens de zomer, het Hilton Hotel Munich Park blijft echter het ganse jaar doorgaan met deze evenementen. We reserveerden een tafeltje enkele dagen vooraf. 

Het zicht van op de bovenste verdieping van het Hilton is zeer mooi. De brunch was alles inclusief, koude en warme voorgerechten, hoofdgerechten, kazen, desserten en drankjes. Alles was in buffetvorm met enkele life cooking stations. We vonden deze brunch echter heel duur voor de aangeboden kwaliteit.
