Teatre del Liceu on the Rambla, Barcelona

This fabulous building dates from the mid 19th century and is mainly used for concerts and opera. From the middle of the Rambla you can try to take a picture of the façade but trees are blocking the full view.

When it is not possible for you to get tickets for a performance, we would still recommend to visit the theater during a day tour. It is not expensive and really worth a visit, the ceilings and balconies are amazing.

Dit fantastische gebouw dateert uit het midden van de 19de eeuw en wordt voornamelijk gebruikt voor concerten en opera. Van op het midden van de Rambla kan je proberen een foto te nemen van de gevel maar bomen blokkeren het volledige zicht. 

Als je geen kaartjes kan kopen voor een voorstelling, zouden we nog steeds aanbevelen het theater te bezoeken gedurende de dag. Het is niet duur en echt een bezoek waard, de plafonds en balkons zijn ongelooflijk.

100 years Municipal House in Prague

Imagine a concert in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House in Prague, it is just fantastic. For me, I wasn’t so lucky. A few years ago, I had a business meeting in this hall with 400 other managers. This visit, I just went back to enjoy this beautiful building, look at the main hall, the façade, statues, the restaurant, and just stroll around.

Kun je het inbeelden, een concert in de Smetana Hall van het Municipal House te Praag, het is gewoon fantastisch. Ik was echter niet zo fortuinlijk. Een paar jaar geleden had ik hier een zakelijke ontmoeting met 400 andere managers. Deze keer, kwam ik terug om van het mooie gebouw te genieten, een kijkje te nemen in de hal, de fantastische voorgevel, de standbeelden, het restaurant en gewoon om wat rond te wandelen..

The Prague concert building, Rudolfinum

The Rudolfinum was built in 1875 and is in Renaissance architecture. It is currently used as concert building as you can see on one of the advertisement of the Czech Philharmonic orchestra. It was however not always a music hall but the seat of the parliament between the two World Wars. The building is enormous with amazing balconies, galleries and fancy lanterns. For me the most impressive were the statues.

Het Rudolfinum werd gebouwd in 1875 en is een voorbeeld van Renaissance architectuur. Het wordt gebruikt als concertgebouw zoals je kan zien op het publiciteitsdoek van het Tsjechische filmharmonica orkest. Gedurende de twee Wereldoorlogen was het echter de zetel van het parlement. Het gebouw is enorm groot met wondermooie balkons, galerijen en sierlijke lantaarns. Voor mij waren de standbeelden het meest indrukwekkend..

Modern square with scuptures in the historical city of Brugge, ‘t Zand

Brugge tries to keep all its buildings and houses in original shape which gives the town a historical character and why it is also recognised on the World Heritage List of UNESCO. There is to our knowledge, only one exception: ‘t Zand. This is a market place just at the border of the city. Underneath the market square there is an enormous parking lot, ideal to leave your car if you want to go into the city centre. Here they have built a modern Concert building that many people of Brugge dislike. On the middle of the square, you find several sculptures made by Stefaan and Livia Depuydt-Canestraro. We liked the sculptures representing images of the history of Brugge.

Brugge probeert zijn gebouwen en huizen in originele staat te behouden, wat de stad een historisch karakter geeft en waarom het ook is opgenomen op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO. Volgens ons is er hier slechts één uitzondering op, ’t Zand. Dit is een marktplaats aan de rand van de binnenstad. Onder het ‘Zand ligt een enorme parking, een ideale plaats om je auto achter te laten als je Brugge centrum bezoekt. Men heeft hier een modern concertgebouw neergezet waar vele Bruggelingen niet van houden. Op het midden van het plein staat een kunstwerk met standbeelden gemaakt door Stefaan en Livia Depuydt-Canestraro. We waren wel onder de indruk van dit werk met uitbeeldingen uit het verleden van Brugge..
