Theater des Westens and the Dance of the Vampire

Opera and musical theatres are mostly modern or historical buildings. Here in the Kantstraβe in Berlin we face a building which is more than a hundred years old. The statues against the white facade are great. On the roof you see special features like an obelisk and sphinx. Here plays the musical “Tanz der Vampire”. This is a fantastic building used for Operas, Ballet, Musicals and Drama.

Opera en musical theaters zijn meestal modern of in mooie historische gebouwen. Hier in de Berlijnse Kantstraβe zien we een gebouw van meer als 100 jaar oud. De standbeelden tegen de witte voorgevel zijn groots. Op het dak staan enkele bijzondere beelden waaronder een obelisk en sfinx. Hier speelt men de musical “Tanz der Vampire”. Een fantastisch gebouw dat een platform is voor opera, ballet, musical en toneel.

Drama, art and dance in the “Toneelhuis” or “Bourlaschouwburg”, Antwerpen

This theatre is located on the “Komedieplaats” in Antwerp. The building was completed in 1834 by the famous architect Pierre Bourla, this could also be deducted from the name of the theatre. On the square, the circular shape of the “Toneelhuis” draws your attention. The dome is supported by symmetric columns and above each window you see busts and statues.

On the top floor you find the Foyer where you can enjoy a drink, snack or complete meal. The ceiling of the Foyer is amazing. In the lobby we have a break in one of the red couches. Around us you see busts of well known Belgian artists. The portraits with a combination of black, grey, skin colour and light are unique.

Dit theatergebouw is gelegen aan de Komedieplaats in Antwerpen. Het gebouw werd voltooid in 1834 door de beroemde architect Pierre Bourla wat reeds kon worden afgeleid uit de naam van de Bourlaschouwburg. Op het plein valt het ronde gebouw onmiddellijk op. De koepel wordt ondersteund door symmetrische zuilen waar tussen busten afgebeeld zijn. Op het dak staan verschillende standbeelden. 

Op de bovenste verdieping vind je de Foyer waar men iets kan drinken, een snackje eten of een volledige maaltijd nuttigen. Het beschilderde plafond van dit restaurant is ongelooflijk. In de lobby rusten we even uit op een rood bankstel. Rondom ons zie je portretten van hedendaagse Belgische acteurs en toneelspelers. De combinaties van het licht, zwart, grijs en huidskleur zijn uniek..

Shopping and entertainment in Karlova, Prague

Karlova is a street in the Staré Město district of Prague. It is very popular by tourists because it connects two major attractions as the Karlův Most (Karls bridge) and Old City Hall with its astronomy clock. The street is colourful with many historical buildings and beautiful facades. In most shops they sell souvenirs like postcards, badges, puppets, little clocks, crystal and other local products. Next to the shops you have several theatres in the street where you could enjoy “Alice in Wonderland” or a creepy puppet show. There is always something to do or to see.

Karlova is een straat in de Staré Město wijk van Praag. Deze is zeer populair bij toeristen daar het twee heel belangrijke bezienswaardigheden met elkaar verbindt, de Karlův Most (Karelsbrug) en het Oude Stadhuis met zijn astronomie klok. De straat is kleurrijk en bevat vele historische huizen met mooie gevels. De meeste winkels verkopen kleine souvenirs zoals postkaarten, plaatjes, magneten, poppen, kleine klokjes, kristal en andere lokale producten. Behalve winkels heb je er ook theaters, je kan er gaan kijken naar “Alice in Wonderland” of een griezelige poppenshow. Er is altijd iets te zien of te doen..

Downtown Boston shopping and theatre district

Boston is one of the most beautiful cities of the States in our opinion. The city offers parks, a harbour, monuments, historical buildings, shopping possibilities and theatres. In this article, I want to share some pictures of my evening walk to a restaurant. In the city centre around the area of Downtown Crossing Station in Winter and Summer Street, you find super stores like Macy’s and Fanuel Hall. For us Europeans it is strange to see so many “Stars and Stripes” in the street, just above the local market stands. Continuing my walk in Summer Street, you see several theatres with flashy lights like the Paramount building and the Boston Opera House. The Boston Opera House has a fantastic façade.

Naar onze mening is Boston één van de mooiste steden van Amerika. De stad telt vele parken, een haven, monumenten, historische gebouwen, mogelijkheden tot winkelen en theaters. In dit artikel wens ik enkele foto’s met u te delen over mijn avondwandeling naar het restaurant. In het stadscentrum rond “Downtown Crossing Station” in Winter en Summer Street, vind je enkele superbekende winkels zoals Macy’s en Fanuel Hall. Voor Europeanen is het raar zoveel vlaggen te zien hangen boven de marktkrampjes. Verder wandelend door Summer Street zie je verschillende Theaters met lichtpanelen zoals op het Paramount gebouw en het Boston Opera House. Het Boston Opera House heeft tevens een prachtige voorgevel..
