These photos were taken on a business trip a few months ago on a sunny fall evening. So, I decided to write my four remaining articles of Vienna. The first blog entry is about the Kärtnerstrasse, the main shopping street in the old city centre. Since I was alone, without Kristel, shopping is about architecture and not about buying stuff. The facades of historical buildings are fantastic and some shops have a high glamour appearance. Occasionally you see a modern display covering the old walls or a McDonald's sign, totally misplaced against a magnificent house. The power of McDonald's must be enormous to get a permit for this.

ReplyDeleteVienna is a beautiful city, and your photos show
ReplyDeletethe truely magnificent old and new architecture
to perfection.I just love the elegant shops!!
Such wonderful and detailed architecture. The McDonald's seem to be out of place in such an environment. As for the other modern stores, I wonder what stood there when the buildings were first built.
ReplyDeleteWith buildings like these, why even go inside....I could just walk around outside for hours enjoying it all and snapping pictures the entire time! Thanks for sharing these!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I do so enjoy your photography with your comments on what you have taken. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteThe architecture in this old part of Vienna looks lovely. Great photos, and yes,it is amazing where you can find mc donalds. My first midnight meal ever in Paris was on the Rue di Rivoli in McDonalds. Pretty shocking to me that i ended up there, but was desparate. also, one of the first places i noticed in the Galleria in Milan was Mcdonalds. How innappropriate is that. Love your photos! Best wishes, Jeanne
ReplyDeleteSo much details on the facades !
ReplyDeleteI can't believe McDonalds can get away with that. But I also can't believe McDonalds can make enough money somewhere that makes such divine chocolate! It's a funny world!!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to find building like this in Malaysia =/
ReplyDeleteIts sure is pretty :D
