A room with a view, Costa Brava Hotel, Platja D'aro.

A week before leaving to Platja D'aro, we receive a message that we have been transferred to another hotel. Ours is closed for renovation works. It is the first time we encounter such a thing. Looking to the pictures of the Costa Brava hotel, we would never book this out of our initiative because it is very old with basic comfort.

It was however a great experience. Its location is perfect, high on the rocks next to the sea. From in the restaurant you have a perfect view on the beach and incoming waves. In a few minutes you can walk down on the beach and see the rock formations. A dream location.

General Impressions of Platja D'aro and port

Platja D'aro is now still crowded but our pictures were taken in the cold off season, most restaurants at the beach promenade were even closed. The main shopping street was open. These little coast towns at the Costa Brava come to life during the summer. Outside the main season, everyone is gone. The deserted old amusement park is a confrontation with reality.

In the small port, you find many sailing boats and yachts. This is the most modern part of town. New apartments are being build. We liked the enormous bush, shaped into a green duck.

Alle zaken in de hoofdwinkelstraat waren open for business.
