Taking a canal boat through the historical center of Brugge

A canal boat tour in Brugge is the ideal and most relaxing way to see historical mansions from on the water. The boats are full which makes it affordable. We feel the history, old mansions, churches and castles, even made better with flowers, trees and wildlife. Swans, duck, coots and other water birds come close to the vessel. Mind your head for low bridges. Enjoy.

Geniet!

Restaurant Sans Cravate, Brugge

Next to their amazing hotel, Sans Cravate has a one star Michelin restaurant. Luxury dining and sleeping can be combined in this establishment. Staff is service minded and the restaurant has a modern look.

We selected the five course tasting menu which included oyster, radish, herring, shrimps, leek, turbot, lobster, duck, dessert and sweets. Overall the food had a creative presentation but the main ingredients were minimalised. The wine pairing "Big Boys" was very good. Looking back we were however more impressed with the hotel than the restaurant.

Amazing rooms in "La Suite Sans Cravate", Brugge

Brugge is probably the most touristic city in Belgium and rooms are small and expensive. In "La Suite Sans Cravate" the rooms (lofts) are big, luxurious and just amazing. Excellent beds, shower and bath. The classic mansion has been renovated to a modern nature concept with glass bathrooms. Welcome in the world of extravagance.

Luxury comes with a price but we certainly recommend this hotel which is located within walking distance from the historical city centre.

A good performance at BDSF Ballroom competition – Rose de Leyn, Brugge

In our second competition of the year which is part of our preparation for the 2014 season we were faced with a small but high quality field. There were only four couples in the Championship Class but some had name and fame.

We arrived a few hours early to get a feeling of the floor during one of the breaks. The size was just fine and we were set for the start. We danced two rounds and were pleased with our performance although we became 3rd out of 4 couples.

The winners of this competition were the Belgian Champions (Robrecht Krikilion and Nadia Schepens) who are placed number 37 on the world ranking. We didn’t come close, yet. The number two (Paul Vandenrul and Nini Kuypers – Nr. 94 on the World Ranking) also won against us last competition but this time it was a very close call. We won two dances and they three with the smallest difference. We can’t wait until the next encounter because we are closing the gap.

The Old Box – 1986: In the army now, military school of Zedelgem

“In the army now” was a popular song of the band “Status Quo”. When it was released in 1986 we were playing and singing it all the time. This had a special reason.

At the age of 16, I started at military school in Zedelgem Brugge. In the army you do as you are told, so when they added me to the medical support troops I knew something must be wrong here. I did not want to become a doctor or nurse. In your second year, depending on your results you can change your orientation to land- air- or sea forces. It was nothing for me and after half a year, I returned to a civilian school to study maths and economics.

Amazing restaurant experience at Danny Horseele, Dudzele - Brugge

Restaurant Danny Horseele in Brugge was an excellent choice. The restaurant is on Brugge’s country side and has art in the garden. The interior has classic and modern element, and this is also reflected in the pieces of art. Together with one of our Gourmet friends we selected the all-in lunch menu. This two star Michelin restaurant works with classic ingredients and has a modern presentation. The tasting was just fabulous and price quality for the lunch one of the best Michelin restaurants we have ever visited.
