Saint Walburga Church (kerk) - Veurne

This church is famous for its wooden choir of the 13th century. It is the oldest wooden construction of the province of "West-Vlaanderen". The choir is in the early gothic style. The original chapel of Saint Walburga was build in the year 870 and later replaced by this amazing church.

Deze kerk is beroemd om haar houten koor uit de 13de eeuw. Het is de oudste houten constructie uit West-Vlaanderen en is gebouwd in de vroeg-gotische stijl. De oorspronkelijke kapel van Sint-Walburga was gebouwd in het jaar 870 en later vervangen door deze ongelooflijke kerk.

Veurne on Ice - Veurne op het ijs

Like many Flemish villages, Veurne also offers ice skating on the market during December and January (ends on 10 January). It is very popular and most of the time combined with a Christmas market. Veurne is a small town with around 8.000 inhabitants. The market place is extraordinary with it's 17th century houses, the city hall, the Saint Nicholas Church, the Saint Walburga Church and it's belfry.

Zoals vele Vlaamse gemeenten kan je in Veurne tijdens december en januari ijsschaatsen op de markt (tot 10 januari). Het is zeer populair en het wordt meestal gecombineerd met een kerstmarkt. Veurne is een klein stadje met ongeveer 8.000 inwoners. De markt is buitengewoon mooi met zijn huizen van de 17de eeuw, het stadhuis, de Sint-Niklaas kerk, de Sint-Walburga kerk en het belfort.

Castle Beauvoorde - Kasteel Beauvoorde

The castle is part of the Flanders heritage and is located in the small village of Wulveringem near Veurne. It's was a rainy day and there was some mod in the gardens. Nevertheless the walk around the castle was fun. It was build during the 12th century and renovated by Jacob de Bryarde at the beginning of the 17th century.

Het kasteel is opgenomen in het Vlaamse erfgoed en staat in het kleine dorpje Wulveringem dichtbij Veurne. Het was een regenachtige dag en de tuinen lagen er modderig bij. Niet tegenstaande de modder was de wandeling rond het kasteel toch leuk. Het werd gebouwd gedurende de 12de eeuw en verbouwd door Jacob de Bryarde aan het begin van de 17de eeuw.
