Cosy Hotel Mitterwirt with a fantastic wellness centre, Dienten

The Mitterwirt Hotel is built on the Alpine slopes. In the garden you have a small outdoor pool but when it is too cold you could decide to use the inside pool next to the wellness centre. The wellness centre is very good with two saunas, a steam bath and a relaxing room decorated like a barn.

At the entrance or the salon, the house pet Asmo is sleeping. He is a Golden Retriever just like our Tessa. The breakfast buffet is rich and around four o’clock the hotel offers its guests a small snack. For dinner you have a three course choice menu. The rooms are very spacious. We certainly can recommend this hotel if you like wellness and hiking.

Het Mitterwirt Hotel is gebouwd op een Alpen berghelling. In de tuin heb je een klein zwembad maar als het te koud is kan je binnen ook terrecht in het zwembad naast het wellness centrum. Het saunabereik is zeer goed met twee sauna’s, een stoombad en een ontspanningsruimte ingericht als een hooischuur. 

Aan de receptie of het salon slaapt meestal het hondje Asmo. Hij is een Golden Retriever net zoals onze Tessa. Het ontbijtbuffet is rijkelijk verzorgt en rond 4 uur biedt het hotel een kleine snack aan, aan de gasten. ’s Avonds voor het diner is er een keuze menu. De kamers zijn ruim. We kunnen dit hotel aanbevelen voor mensen die houden van wellness en wandelen..

Hiking in the Austrian alps from Dienten to Hintertal

We want to start our hike on the top of the Gabuhel and for this we took a two seat ski lift. On the way up, we take some shot of the Dienten valley and alpine cows with bells around their neck. At the highest point we are partly above the clouds which was impressive. It still early in the morning and the restaurant at the top of the Gabuhel was not open yet. In the garden next to a pond, stands a small chapel. We started a 4 hour hike through the woods which were still wet of the morning dawn. On our way we took some pictures of flowers and mountain herbs.

We willen onze wandeling starten op de top van de Gabuhel en hiervoor namen we een skilift. Onderweg naar boven hadden we mooie vergezichten op de vallei van Dienten en Alpenkoeien met een bel rond hun nek. Op het hoogste punt waren we gedeeltelijk boven de wolken en dat was indrukwekkend. Het is vroeg in de ochtend en het Gabuhel restaurant was nog niet open. In de tuin van het restaurant staat naast een vijvertje een kleine kapel. We beginnen onze wandeling van 4 uur door de bossen die nog steeds nat zijn van de ochtendnevel. Onderweg maakten we wat foto’s van bloemen en Alpenkruiden..

Amazing buildings of the Humboldt University in Berlin

We are walking on “Unter den Linden” (a major street in Berlin starting at the Brandenburger Tor) towards the Alexanderplatz and see an amazing building on our right side. It is the Humboldt University called “Die Kommode” on the Bebelplatz that houses the Royal Library of Friedrich Wilhelm III. The building was constructed in the late 18th century.

On the other side of the street you find the main building of the university or the Palace of Prince Heinrich von Preuβen. At this university square they often sell second hand books. Inside the building entrance hall, you find an impressive marble staircase.

We wandelen op “Unter den Linden” (een hoofdstraat in Berlijn die start aan de Brandenburger Tor) richting Alexanderplatz en zien op onze rechter zijde een ongelooflijk gebouw. Het is het Humboldt universiteit gebouw “Die Kommode” op de Bebelplatz dat de Koninklijke bibliotheek van Freidrich Wilhelm III huisvest. Het gebouw werd voltooid op het einde van de 18de eeuw. 

Aan de overzijde van de straat staat het hoofdgebouw van de universiteit of het paleis van Prins Heinrich van Pruisen. Op dit universiteitsplein verkopen ze regelmatig tweedehands boeken. De grote inkomhal wordt gedomineerd door een marmeren trappenhuis..
