Just a few hundred metre land inwards from the popular Jumeirah beach, you find the Dubai Marina. This is the playground of the ultra rich with their super yachts. There was a shop selling some of these pleasure boats and most of them were extremely expensive, a few million euro! The Marina has many outdoor restaurants because it rains only a few days a year. Around the harbour and river, they built a walking promenade. Everywhere you look, you see modern skyscrapers and buildings under construction. One of our favourite places in this area is the Grosvenor House with its excellent restaurants. From the Dubai International Marine Club, you have a spectacular view on the Infinity Tower, the highest building in the world with a 90º twist. The 80 stories tall building should be completed during 2012.

Amazing building with a twist. Have never seen anything even similar to this! Best, jeanne
ReplyDeleteWat een overweldigende stad. Wat een gebouwen en wat een geld. Prachtige foto's
ReplyDeleteWOW, this is quite SOMETHING!!!! The most unusual and dramatic post I have seen all year so far. It must be a nightmare to design and build something like this. Do you know how many buildings there are over the world that have this twist? I have never seen anything like it, and never thought such a thing was possible! I can't wait to show Phil when he comes home. You post THE COOLEST things!!!!
ReplyDeletean amazing city, an engineers dream I suspect to see that building go up. Rooming in the PentHouse would do nothing for me. I love to see the photos though, so thanks for sharing around the world ...
ReplyDeleteamazing architecture against the seas! really beautiful and exotic!
ReplyDeletethank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment! i really appreciate it! blessings to you!
It looks very stark - the skyscrapers so glitzy. The twisty building is an architectural wonder, for sure. Though the cafe looks a bit more intimate, the skyline is intimidating (to me).
ReplyDeleteWow, the marina is packed with yachts! With low precipitation and nice weather, I would image these get used quite often for pleasure cruises. Yet another unique structure to add to its skyline!
