The church was built during the 13th century in a Romanesque style. Something you don't encounter often in Belgium or The Netherlands. In Italy, it seems more common. We had to wait until the mess was finished. There are still several messes a day which shows how religious Italy is.
In the garden which is at the same time a local playground for dogs, you find elevated graves covered by green rectangle roofs. A unique interaction between the living and dead, we have never seen such a dog playground before.
Inside the church you find several beautiful ceramic works and narrow vertical altars. We liked the wooden frame which supports the high ceiling, it reminds us a bit of German architectural styles we saw in Koblenz and Trier.

cool church
ReplyDeleteI have never seen such a gravesite before, with roofs on top. Were these special in any way, maybe reserved for the rich or well known?
ReplyDeleteLovely Church, different on the outside. It's good to know that the church is being well used with so many Masses each day. Here often the country churches are locked, which is annoying for me.
