The best Carnival in Belgium, The Sinksenfoor in Antwerpen

The Sinksenfoor in Antwerp, Belgium, is probably the biggest carnival fair of the country and most likely the best one. We certainly love it. There are mega attractions like Booster Maxx, XXL, Deca Dance, Wild mouse, Eclipse Virus, Polyp, small rollercoasters, rides for the children... Next to the attractions, you have many opportunities to eat a snack in one of the Pita, hamburger, pancake or candy shops. You need however to be lucky with the weather. For us it was rather clouded. The fair is located on the Vlaamse Kaai in Antwerpen and after your visit you have several places to go for a drink.

De Sinksenfoor in Antwerpen is hoogstwaarschijnlijk de grootste kermis van het land en mogelijk ook de beste. Wij houden er zeker van. Er staan mega attracties zoals Booster Maxx, XXL, Deca Dance, Wild Mouse, Eclipse Virus, Polyp, kleine achtbanen, molens voor de kinderen... Naast de attracties zijn er ook vele mogelijkheden om iets te eten: een pita, hamburger, pannenkoek of wat snoep aan een van de kraampjes. De kermis staat op de Vlaamse Kaai in Antwerpen en na je bezoek vind je hier ook vele leuke kroegen om iets te drinken..

Mini Blackpool competition 2011 in Kerdriel

We have always participated in the Mini Blackpool competition in Kerkdriel. This year, I was not feeling well on Friday evening and Kristel was a bit ill this morning. After evaluating the situation we decided to participate and approach it like a training session. During the warm up we already felt it was going to by a hard fight against our condition. In our class (NADB C-Class) we only had 5 couples, so this meant two final rounds. To fit with the time table of the IDSF 10 dance, we had to dance the first final during the first rounds and the second final during the redance rounds. We danced reasonably well given the circumstances and would accept to end on the 5th place this time. The adjudicators decided differently, we reached the 3rd place and beat two couples we have never left behind us in the C-Class. A pity we had to wait 3 hours for the price presentation.

This Mini Blackpool competition gets a lot of criticism in The Netherlands because it is more expensive than other NADB competitions and the organiser is not placing a dance floor. The couples dance on the wooden floor of the sportshal and this is also of good quality. In our opinion the entrance price of 20 euro per person is very reasonable because you see fantastic dancing of IDSF participants and the organisation puts 11 international adjudicators to judge the quality of your dancing. This also has to be paid. Congratulations to Mr. Ad de Bruijn.

We hebben altijd deelgenomen aan de Mini Blackpool competitie in Kerkdriel. Dit jaar, voelde ik mij niet zo goed op vrijdag en Kristel was ziek deze morgen. Na overleg besloten we toch deel te nemen aan de wedstrijd en het te aanschouwen als een training. Gedurende de opwarming voelden we onmiddellijk dat het ging uitlopen op een conditioneel gevecht met ons zelf. In onze NADB C-klasse waren er maar 5 deelnemende paren wat resulteerde in 2 finales. Om het te laten samenlopen met de IDSF 10 dans werd onze 1ste finale gedanst gedurende de 1ste rondes en 2de finale gedurende de herkansingsrondes. We dansten redelijk goed gezien de omstandigheden en namen voor deze keer zelfs vrede met een 5de plaatst. De jury besloot er echter anders over en we behaalden de 3de plaatst. We lieten 2 paren achter ons die we voor de eerste keer verslagen in de C-Klasse. Spijtig dat we 3 uren hebben moeten wachten voor de prijspresentatie. 


Deze Mini Blackpool competitie krijgt toch heel wat kritiek in Nederland omwille van de inkomprijs van 20 euro per persoon wat duurder is dan de andere NADB wedstrijden. De organisatie plaats ook geen dansvloer maar de paren dansen op de parketvloer van de sporthal, en deze is ook van goede kwaliteit. Naar onze mening is deze competitie tegen een faire inkomprijs daar je hiervoor ook naar vele fantastische IDSF paren kan kijken en er staan 11 internationale juryleden langs de vloer voor een objectieve beoordeling van jouw dansen. Dit moet ook betaald worden, onze felicitaties voor de organisatie en Dhr. Ad de Bruijn.

Let's Dance Championships 2011 - Amstelveen

The Let's Dance Championships in Amstelveen was for us the first competition in theNADB C-Class. We expected a strong field in this town and we were right. Our dancing was up to our standards but we end in place 12 from 13 couples. We dislike the result but were happy with our dancing. It shows we will have to work hard to perform in this new class. We are looking forward to the next competition in Cuijck on 25 April, Easter Monday.

De "Let's Dance Championships" in Amstelveen was onze eerste competitie in de NADB C-klasse. We hadden een sterk veld verwacht en we kregen gelijk. Ons dansen ging goed en op het gewenste niveau maar we eindigen op plaatst 12 van 13 paren. We zijn niet blij met het resultaat maar wel met ons dansniveau. Het toont aan dat we hard zullen moeten werken om in deze klasse te presteren. We kijken al uit naar de volgende wedstrijd in Cuijck op Paasmaandag 25 april.
