Permanent carnival and souvenirs at Jardin des Tuileries, Paris

When they broadcast the final stage of the “Tour de France” on television, you sometimes see a giant Ferris wheel. We always assumed that it was a carnival fair during the month of July but this carnival at the Jardin des Tuileries remains here. So if you would like to do your kids a favour after visiting a museum, this is the place. They have a Ferris wheel, some thrill rides, water attractions and some small kid rides. Buying a souvenir from one of the African street venters is also a possibility. They had some nice drawings but I don’t understand why they are selling miniatures of the Eiffel Tower in this area. Maybe they are not allowed to sell there miniatures at the real Eiffel Tower. It will take a while before we write about Paris again, there are no more trips planned in the next months to this city.

Als ze de laatste etappe van de “Tour de France”uitzenden op televisie, zie je soms een reuzenrad langs het parcours. Wij gingen er van uit dat in juli de kermis maand was in Parijs, maar dit lijkt een permanente kermis op de zijkant van de Jardin des Tuileries. Na een museum bezoek is het altijd leuk je kinderen een plezier te doen met een ritje op de kermis. Ze hebben er een reuzenrad, enkele spectaculaire attracties, een waterparcours met boomstammen, en enkele kindermolens. Het kopen van een souvenir aangeboden door een Afrikaanse straatventer behoort ook tot de mogelijkheden. Ze hadden enkele mooie tekeningen mee en verkochten miniaturen van de Eiffel Toren. Wel raar dat ze dit op deze locatie doen en niet aan de echte Eiffel Toren. Het zal nu een hele tijd duren vooraleer we terug over Parijs schrijven, er zijn geen trips gepland naar deze stad voor enkele maanden..

The gardens of Jardin des Tuileries, and a simple walking tour in Paris

These are the gardens of the Royal Palace or the Palais des Tuileries. The palace stood next to the “Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel” located between the gardens and the Louvre. It was destroyed in 1871. The gardens contain several ponds, beautiful sculptures, benches to repose yourself, nicely cut threes and bushes. At the side of “Place de la Concorde” you have splendid views on the Eiffel tower. If you like to walk during your visit in Paris, and you start at the Louvre, go into the direction of Arc the Triomphe and you see this beautiful garden, the Eiffel Tower, Place de la Concorde, the Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe. All these landmarks in about a walk of one hour. You can not lose the way; all these monuments are located on one straight line.

Dit zijn de tuinen van het Koninklijk paleis of van het “Palais des Tuileries”. Het kasteel stond aan de “Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel” gelegen tussen de tuinen en het Louvre. Het werd echter vernietigd in 1871. In de tuinen vind je verschillende meertjes, mooie beeldhouwwerken, bankjes en stoelen om op uit te rusten, mooi geschoren bomen en struiken. Langs de zijde van “Place de la Concorde” heb je een schitterend zicht op de Eiffel toren. Als je graag wandelend Parijs bezoekt, is dit een ideale mogelijkheid. Vertrek op het binnenplein van het Louvre en kom de volgende attracties tegen: deze mooie tuin, zicht op de Eiffel toren, Place de la Concorde, de Champs Elysees en Arc de Triomphe, en dit alles ligt op één rechte lijn. De wandeling duurt ongeveer 1 uur en je kan niet verloren lopen.
