Shopping in the Maastrichterstraat in Tongeren, sweets and nostalgia

The Maastrichterstraat in Tongeren is certainly the place to be for shoppers but also for people who would like to see one of the oldest houses of the city. The Hema store is located in the Dommershausen, these are two houses from the 16th century. The wooden façade on the first floor is fantastic and you should see the staircase inside the clothing shop. For the real shoppers among us, you find here a Free Record Shop, a Shoe shop, a Panos, a jewellery shop, the Standaard book shop and many more. After some horseback riding on a fake horse underneath the Christmas decoration, Kristel needed some sugar. If you also like sweets, go to the bakery at number 62, called Patisserie Blanckaert. Anyone who likes cakes, creamy biscuits, chocolate is at the right address here. A picture of the patisserie says more than a thousand words. Wouldn’t you like to taste it? Or do you prefer the horseback riding?

De Maastrichterstraat in Tongeren is zeker en vast de place to be voor winkelliefhebbers, maar ook voor mensen die één van de oudste huizen van de stad willen zien. De Hema winkel is gevestigd in de Dommershausen, die dateren van de 16de eeuw. De houten gevel op de eerste verdieping is fantastisch en je zou het trappenhuis binnenin de kledingwinkel moeten zien. Voor de echte shoppers onder ons, vind je hier ook een Free Record Shop, een schoenwinkel, een Panos, een juwelier, een Standaard boekhandel en nog veel meer. Na wat paardje rijden op een speelgoedtuig onder de kerstdecoratie, had Kristel behoefte aan wat suiker. Als je van snoepgoed en taartjes houdt, moet je bij Patisserie Blanckaert zijn op nummer 62. Iedereen die van taartjes, snoep, koekjes en chocolade houdt is hier op het juiste adres. De foto’s zeggen meer als duizend woorden. Zou je er niet graag eens van proeven?
