A brown Neptunus fountain on the Neumarkt, Wuppertal

The Neumarkt is the connection point for several shopping streets. An amazing building with two clock towers, a fabulous entrance and several statues dominates one side of the square. It is the only building of significance on the Neumarkt and the current City Hall. The statues however refer more to a court of justice.

Neptunus is standing high on its fountain overlooking the market. Below him you see the sea horses and other creatures. Sea men and women drink large volumes of source water. It must be the source of eternal life because all people look so fit and muscular.

De Neumarkt is het verbindingspunt tussen verschillende winkelstraten. Een prachtig gebouw met kloktoren, mooie poort en enkele standbeelden, domineert een volledige kant van het plein. Het is echter het enige architecturaal belangrijk gebouw op de Neumarkt en is tevens het huidige stadhuis. De standbeelden refereren echter meer naar een gerechtshof. 

Neptunus staat hoog boven op zijn fontein neer te kijken op de markt. Onder hem staan zeepaarden en andere wezens. Zeemannen en vrouwen drinken grote hoeveelheden bronwater. Dit moet wel de bron van het eeuwige leven zijn daar iedereen er zo fit en gespierd uit ziet.

The Television Tower, St. Nicholas church and City Hall, Nikolaiviertel Berlin

Since we did not visit these individual attractions of Berlin, we show you some pictures of the Nikolaiviertel. One of the most important buildings is the Fernseturm or Television Tower. The tower is 368m high and around the middle at 200 metre you find a turning restaurant. The views must be spectacular and each hour the restaurant turns 360 degrees.

Between the St. Nicholas church and the City Hall, you find a park with nice fountains. The City Hall was closed but the picture of Kristel with the mermaid is one of my favourite Berlin shots. We also liked the graffiti fountain on the Alexanderplatz.

Daar we niet al deze attracties van Berlijn hebben bezocht tonen we u enkel foto’s van het Nikolaiviertel. Eén van de belangrijkste gebouwen is de Fernseturm of de televisietoren. Hij is 368m hoog en ongeveer in het midden op 200m is er een draaiend restaurant. De zichten over de stad Berlijn moeten spectaculair zijn en ieder uur draait het restaurant om zijn as. 

Tussen de St. Nicolaaskerk en het Stadhuis vind je een park met mooie fonteinen. Het stadhuis was spijtig genoeg gesloten maar de foto van Kristel met de zeemeermin is één van mijn favoriete shots van Berlijn. We vonden de graffiti fontein op de Alexanderplatz ook leuk..

Colourful Neuermarkt and Town Hall in Rostock

The new square of Rostock or the Neuermarkt is a colourful location. Most houses have a different façade in white, grey, light green, green, brown, sand colour and the Town Hall is in pink. Could you ever imagine a City Hall in pink? It was hard to believe but it is very beautiful. During the Second World War this 800 years old Town Hall was destroyed and later again erected, the seven Baroque towers seem to be a different style than the front building. It is certainly unique. The entrance arch is in a style which a typical for Rostock, we have seen similar arches and materials in the library and several churches. The church you see in the background is the Marien church; we will come back on this later because it has a fantastic organ, fire glass and astronomic clock. At the corner of the Neuermarkt you find the Steigenberger Hotel with its golden decorations on the roof.

De Nieuwe Markt of de Neuermarkt is een kleurrijke plaats. De meeste huizen hebben verschillende gevels in wit, grijs, licht groen, groen, bruin, zandkleur, en het stadhuis is in het roze. Kan je dit voorstellen, een stadhuis in het roze? Wij konden dit niet geloven maar het was zeer mooi. Gedurende de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd het 800 jaar oude stadhuis vernietigd en later weer opgebouwd. De zeven barok torens lijken in een andere stijl dan het gebouw op de voorgrond. De inkom met booggewelf is typisch voor Rostock, we zagen gelijkaardige booggewelven en materiaal in de bibliotheek en verschillende kerken. De kerk op de achtergrond van het plein is de Marienkerk; we komen later hierop terug daar het een fantastisch orgel, glasramen en astronomische klok heeft. Op de hoek van de markt vindt je het Steigenberger Hotel met zijn gouden versieringen op het dak..

Many colours on the fresh market below the Stuttgarter Town Hall

It is exceptional that a city selects a rather new building for its Town Hall but that is exactly what Stuttgart decided to do. The big tower has a colourful clock animation which we have never seen in a modern building. In the middle of the square, the fresh market was very lively and people enjoyed the beautiful flower displays. On the edge of the square coloured houses and a historical church tower make the picture complete. If you are hungry of these impressive views, you can always buy a piece of fruit and or eat something healthy. The fresh market has many stands with fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and flowers. What particularly drew my attention was a stand with fruit liquor. The bottles all looked strange to me, a product I have no experience with.

Het is uitzonderlijk dat een stad een recent gebouw kiest als zijn stadhuis, maar dat is exact wat Stuttgart besloten heeft. De hoge toren van het stadhuis bevat een kleurvol klokkenspel, iets wat we nog nooit gezien hebben in een modern gebouw. Op het midden van het plein tussen de mooie bloemen was het een drukte vanjewelste op de versmarkt. De gekleurde huizen rond het plein samen met een oude kerktoren op de achtergrond maken het zicht allemaal nog perfecter. Als je honger krijgt van al deze impressies is dit het moment voor een gezond stuk fruit. De versmarkt heeft fruit in overvloed, samen met groenten, champignons en bloemen. Wat mijn aandacht trok was een kraampje met fruitlikeuren, de flessen zagen er raar uit. Met dit product heb ik geen enkele ervaring..

Münchner Christkindlmarkt - Christmas Market Munich

The "Münchner Christkindlmarkt"or the Christmas market is enchanting. Lights everywhere, small wooden shops on the street selling Christmas souvenirs, winter clothing, candles and many more. The Glühwein and Beer are richly available. Cheers.

Marienplatz is right in the heart of Munich. The main building on Marienplatz is the Town Hall with its 85 meter high tower. It was build at the end of the 19th century in Gothic style. The carillon with 42 bells and 32 copper statues come to live at noon and at five. This is one of main tourist attractions of Munich. The other building in the pictures is the old Town Hall build in the 15th century.

The pictures of the colourful buildings were taken in the Kaufingerstrasse. This is the main shopping street of Munich. It is a dream for everyone that likes shopping. There you can find all you desire, designer clothing, sourvenirs, electronics, huge high quality department stores... Don't leave your wife alone here, and certainly not with your credit card.

De kerstmarkt van München is betoverend. Er zijn overal lichtjes en houten stalletjes op iedere hoek van de straat. Hier worden kerstbenodigdheden, kaarsen, souveniers, winterkledij en vele andere zaken verkocht. Glüwein en bier zijn overal beschikbaar, op u gezondheid.

Marienplatz ligt in het hartje van München. Het hoofdgebouw op deze marktplaats is het stadhuis met zijn 85 meter hoge toren. Het is gebouwd op het eind van de 19de eeuw in Gotische stijl. In de toren vind je het "carillon"met zijn 42 belletjes en 32 koperen figuren. Deze komen meermaals per dag tot leven om 12 en 17 uur. Dit is een van de belangrijkste toeristische attracties van de stad. Het andere gebouw op de markt is het oude stadhuis dat werd gebouwd in de 15de eeuw.

De foto's van het gebouw in verschillende kleuren is genomen in de Kaufingerstrasse. Dit is de hoofdwinkelstraat van München. Een droom voor elkeen die graag winkelt. Je kan er alles vinden, merkkledij, souvenirs, elektronische apparatuur, hoge kwaliteit supermarkten....Laat je vrouw hier niet alleen en zeker niet met je kredietkaart.
