Robust dark church of Santissimo Salvatore, Bologna

This big church located at the Via Porta Nova in the direction of Piazza Maggiore was constructed early 17th century, replacing most likely a smaller church. With the urbanization of the city of Bologna you see that it is oversized for the narrow streets.

It is a classic church with high ceilings supported by marble columns. The wall sculptures are praiseworthy and we liked the purple gold bench. There are also several chapels with altars. Overall the church is a bit dark.
