Stuffed lobster at Legal Seafoods, the signature dish of Boston

Boston is known for its Seafood. This is not surprising because the city is located at the Atlantic Ocean. The specialty is Stuffed Lobster. This is a lobster they cut open, stretch a bit in the middle and fill it with scallops, shrimps, vegtables, and cover it with bread croutons. The restaurant "Legal Seafoods" had been recommended to me. It looks very simple and at first I was reluctant to try it. But what the hec, lets go for it. Willing to try the speciality, I order the stuffed lobster. The waitress asks me for the size of the lobster, looking at the small price differences, I decided to go for the large portion. What a surprise to get my plate, I have never seen a lobster this size, it must have been between 1,5 and 2,0 kg. It was excellent. No more doubts, the next time that I am in Boston, I will go back to Legal Seafoods and take the same stuffed lobster.

Boston staat bekend voor zijn zeevruchten en vis. Dit is niet verwonderlijk daar de havenstad gelegen is aan de Atlantische Oceaan. Hun specialiteit is de opgevulde kreeft. Ze snijden de kreeft in twee en strekken deze uit in de breedte, vullen ze op met Jacobsnoten, garnalen, groentjes, en bedekken het geheel met brood croutons. Het restaurant "Legal Seafoods" werd mij aanbevolen, maar door de eenvoudige uitstraling was ik wat terughoudend het te proberen. Maar toch ging ik ervoor. Daar ik hun specialiteit wilde uitproberen bestelde ik de opgevulde kreeft (stuffed lobster). De serveerster vroeg me hoe groot de kreeft diende te zijn en gezien de geringe prijs verschillen op de kaart koos ik de grote versie. Wat een verrassing toen mijn bord verscheen, nog nooit had ik zo'n grote kreeft gezien. Ze woog tussen de 1,5 en 2,0 kg en was uitstekend. Geen enkele twijfel meer, bij mijn volgende bezoek aan Boston, ga ik terug naar Legal Seafoods voor mijn opgevulde kreeft.

Union Oyster House, The oldest restaurant of America, Boston

A friend from Munich recommended us this restaurant that exists since 1826. We absolutely wanted to try the stuffed lobster, a traditional Boston dish. In this restaurant you get a warm feeling. Al the furniture and the bars are in wood. You can eat an oyster at the oyster bar or have a drink at the second bar. This will kill the time when you wait for your table because this restaurant is extremely popular. We could enjoy the bar for one hour with a bottle of wine until our table was ready. We had an interesting conversation with a university dean and had a good stuffed lobster afterwards. You have to try it.

Een vriend uit Munchen heeft ons dit restaurant uit 1826 aanbevolen. We wilden absoluut de opgevulde kreeft, een traditioneel gerecht uit Boston proeven. Dit restaurant met zijn houten interieur en bars straalt warmte uit. Je kan een oester eten aan de oesterbar of van een drankje genieten aan de andere bar. Dit is noodzakelijk terwijl je wacht op je tafel want het restaurant is extreem populair. We hebben een uur genoten van onze fles wijn en een gezellig gesprek met een decaan van een universiteit tot onze tafel klaar was. We raden je aan dit restaurant te proberen.
