A capital the size of Buenos Aires has a lot to offer. This is also required when you have a community of almost 13 million inhabitants spread over 48 districts. The city is so big that we had real difficulties planning our visits to attractions. Not to miss the most important sights we opted for a Hop-on Hop-off bus. This is also a secure way of getting around during the day but you still need to be careful.
Think of something and Buenos Aires has it: historical buildings, theatres, parks, towers, statues, shops, modern buildings, markets, palaces, nature... Traffic is very heavy so you need a lot of time to go from one place to another. Walking is also possible in safe districts but you cannot cover everything on foot, the distances are just too big.
Argentina is a religious country and churches are found everywhere. There is however an open mind set because we also saw synagogues and mosques. When we think about Buenos Aires we expect big steaks and tango. The second evening we got both at Galatango for a top show.
The steak you see on one of the pictures was for the lunch in a cheap Argentinian restaurant near the Presidential Palace. It was very good but a bit large so I could not finish it completely. Stella Artois, one of the leading Belgian lager beers was listed on the menu so I was obliged to select my home country brand. It was also big, one liter, probably bottled only for the Argentinian market.
Een hoofdstad zoals Buenos Aires heeft veel te bieden. Dat is ook nodig als je bijna 13 miljoen inwoners hebt verspreid over 48 districten. De stad is zo groot dat we moeilijkheden hadden onze bezoeken vooraf te plannen. Om geen van de belangrijke bezienswaardigheden te missen besloten we een hop-on hop-off bus te nemen. Dit is ook een veilige manier van u te verplaatsen maar je moet toch voorzichtig zijn.
Als er iets op je verlanglijstje staat heeft Buenos Aires het: historische gebouwen, theaters, parken, torens, beeldhouwwerken, winkels, moderne gebouwen, markten, paleizen, natuur... Het verkeer is er zeer druk en langzaam dus je hebt veel tijd nodig om van het ene district naar het andere te rijden. Wandelen is enkel aan te raden in veilige wijken maar je kan niet alles te voet doen, de afstanden zijn gewoon te groot.
Argentinië is een religieus land en kerken zijn veelvuldig in het straatbeeld. Er is ook tolerantie naar andere geloven, we hebben er moskeeën en synagogen gezien. Als we denken aan Buenos Aires verwachten we steak en tango. De tweede avond kregen we beide in Galatango waar we van een top show genoten.
De steak die je ziet op één van de foto's aten we in een goedkoop lunch restaurant in de buurt van het Presidentieel Paleis. Deze was zeer goed maar een beetje te groot, ik kreeg hem niet op. Stella Artois, een populaire Belgische pils stond op de kaart dus als goede Belg koos ik voor het merk van mijn land. Het biertje was ook groot, 1 liter, waarschijnlijk speciaal verpakt voor de Argentijnse markt.
