Jerusalem as like many other Israel cities is built on hill. It is a crowded metro pole with narrow streets and many communities. You have Christian, Muslim and Jewish suburbs. Some of the shopping areas are in improvised halls or covered streets. On the ground you see metal frames that go really deep in the sewer. This is because the original streets were 5 to 10 meter lower and they just built a bridge. The combination of synagogues, mosques and churches which colour the city are adding to the muli cultural environment.

You had quite a view from the hillsides. I didn't expect to see hookahs for sale in the shops.

I would love to see if these synagogues, churches and mosques are still full on their respective holy days....
ReplyDeleteBTW, the souvenir (is that a bead shop or something?) looks very colorful!
ReplyDeleteMore wonderful photos, thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo wonderfull fotos. Jerusalem is beautifull place, and thank you for sharing it to us.
ReplyDeleteHi Filip, on your comment on Tom Fishing Guy Anniversary post you wondered why I (imac) carried 2 cameras, reason being I bought a new camera and if 2 cameras you have 2 lens, instead of keep changing and swopping lens on 1 camera - which saves the dust and dirt getting into the camera, which saves money on getting your camera cleaned.
ReplyDeleteFabulous shots! I really enjoyed see your photos of this beautiful city. Thanks for the tour.
ReplyDeleteHi Filip! What wonderful photos you have as a permanent reminder of your trip.
ReplyDeleteI have loved this tour you have been sharing so much that I am now following your blog :)
You two are on the move! I love the two passageway shots - the market one and the one between the buildings. You've captured the personality of the city.
