Visiting the Berlin Parliament or the Abgeordnetenhaus

On one of our Berlin walks, we visited the Abgeordnetenhaus in the Niederkirchstrasse. It is a building in Italian Renaissance style which was completed just at the end of the 19th century, in 1899. Unfortunately it was not possible to enter the meeting hall itself, for some reason it was closed that afternoon. On most days this would be possible. The pieces of art and statues in front of the Parliament are well worth a look.

Op één van onze wandelingen door Berlijn hebben we het Abgeordnetenhaus in de Niederkirchstrasse bezocht. Het is een gebouw in Italiaanse Renaissance stijl en werd afgewerkt net op het einde van de 19de eeuw, namelijk in 1899. Spijtig genoeg konden we die namiddag voor een nog onbekende reden, de parlementshal niet betreden. Op de meeste dagen is deze wel toegankelijk voor het publiek. De beeldhouwwerken en standbeelden voor het parlement zijn de moeite waard..
