Parliament and bridges, Budapest by night

It is always hard to take night pictures from a distance. We are on the Buda hill and the parliament is far away. We cannot leave without a reasonable shot. Walking down to the Danube river bank, we have great views of the castle.

On our walk through the city we enjoyed the bright bridges and led historical buildings. We always take our tripod when visiting big cities for more than one day. Night shots are spectacular but take a long time.

Het is altijd moeilijk nachtfoto's te nemen van op een grote afstand. Wij staan op de Buda heuvel en het parlement is heel ver weg. We kunnen niet vertrekken zonder een redelijke foto. Naar beneden wandelend tot aan de Danube rivier hebben we prachtige zichten op het kasteel. 

Op onze nachtwandeling door de stad genoten we van de verlichte bruggen en historische gebouwen. We nemen altijd onze tripod mee als we verschillende dagen in een grote stad verblijven. Nachtfoto's kunnen spectaculair zijn maar nemen veel tijd in beslag.

Majestic parliament of Vienna

The Vienna parliament is in perfect condition, the walls are pure white, no pollution traces. Its main hall looks like a Greek temple with tall columns. Everywhere you see statues of Gods created with an eye for detail.

Art, architecture and buildings in Vienna are of a different level than most large cities. Here the historical palaces and landmarks are well maintained. It makes Vienna one of the most popular cities of Europe for a weekend trip.

Het Weense parlement is in perfecte staat, de muren zijn puur, geen sporen van vervuiling te zien. De hoofdhal lijkt op een Griekse tempel met hoge zuilen. Overal zie je standbeelden van Goden, ontworpen met oog voor detail. 

Kunst, architectuur en de gebouwen in Wenen zijn van een totaal ander niveau dan de meeste grote steden. Hier zijn de historische gebouwen en paleizen goed onderhouden. Het maakt Wenen één van de meest populair Europese bestemmingen voor een weekenduitstap.

Parliament building of Victoria Island

The parliament on Victoria Island is the most impressive building of the city. It is surrounded by gardens and flowers. On the harbor side, visitors are transferred back into time when a horse and carriage passes by.

This enormous architectural treasure is a collection of domes, towers and statues. In our opinion this is the most beautiful piece of classic architecture in North America.

Het parlement van Victoria Island is het meest indrukwekkende gebouw van de stad. Het is omringd door tuinen en bloemen. Aan de kant van de haven, worden bezoekers in de tijd terug getransformeerd als een paard en koets voorbij wandelt. 

Dit enorme gebouw met koepels, torens en beeldhouwwerken is een architecturaal juweel. Naar onze mening is dit het meest mooie grote architecturale kunstwerk van noord Amerika.

Visiting the Berlin Parliament or the Abgeordnetenhaus

On one of our Berlin walks, we visited the Abgeordnetenhaus in the Niederkirchstrasse. It is a building in Italian Renaissance style which was completed just at the end of the 19th century, in 1899. Unfortunately it was not possible to enter the meeting hall itself, for some reason it was closed that afternoon. On most days this would be possible. The pieces of art and statues in front of the Parliament are well worth a look.

Op één van onze wandelingen door Berlijn hebben we het Abgeordnetenhaus in de Niederkirchstrasse bezocht. Het is een gebouw in Italiaanse Renaissance stijl en werd afgewerkt net op het einde van de 19de eeuw, namelijk in 1899. Spijtig genoeg konden we die namiddag voor een nog onbekende reden, de parlementshal niet betreden. Op de meeste dagen is deze wel toegankelijk voor het publiek. De beeldhouwwerken en standbeelden voor het parlement zijn de moeite waard..
