St. Julians, general impressions of the beating heart of Malta

Air Malta is the only airliner that flies directly from Amsterdam to Malta. There is however a catch, in one of the legs, they make a stopover in Brussels. Arriving late in the evening, we are ready for a few days relaxing in St. Julians.

It is a nice town with cozy restaurants, monuments and a port. Many Europeans buy a house or apartment to retire here at the Mediterranean Sea. It is strange to see the new flats alongside the older houses. The season has not started yet and many restaurants were closed for lunch. At the port it was rather windy and a jacket offered some protection. On a small island you see a temple construction which is a casino.

The city is ideal for walks alongside the coast line. Modern pavements make it tourists and pensioners easy with many benches to relax. Just like in its neighbor town and capital of Malta, Valletta, historical houses have wooden balconies. We also liked the little shops, locals selling vegetables on the street and vintage cars.
