Sleeping between birch trees in Hotel Cocoon, Munich

On city or business trips, we are always looking for modern comfort hotels. Not to fancy but it needs to have a good bathroom, air-conditioning, Wifi access and a good bed. Hotel Cocoon in Munich fulfils all these requirements. They even have two of these hotels in Munich, one in Stachus and one at Sendlinger Tor.

The rooms are spacious and the wallpaper behind my bed shows a birch forest. The flat screen TV with built in DVD player is attached to a real birch tree; you even have a docking station for your iPod. The enormous rain shower was one of the best I have ever experienced. The hotel lobby is modern and everywhere you find balls to sit in. The breakfast was also good. Both hotels are located near a metro station so travelling in the city is a piece of cake. Hotel Cocoon is a good choice and has our recommendation.

Op citytrips en zakenreizen zoeken we altijd naar moderne comfort hotels. Niet te chique maar wel een goede badkamer, airco, Wifi toegang en een goed bed. Hotel Cocoon in München vervult al deze voorwaarden. Men heeft zelfs twee Cocoon hotels in de hoofdstad van Bayern, in Stachus en aan de Sendlinger Tor. 

De kamers zijn ruim en het behangpapier op de muur achter mijn bed lijkt op een berkenbos. De LCD TV met ingebouwde DVD speler is vastgemaakt aan een echte berkenboom. Er is zelfs een docking station voor je iPod in de kamer. De enorme regendouche is één van de beste die ik ooit heb ervaren. In de slaapkamer en hotellobby hangen overal ballen om in te zitten. Het ontbijt was ook goed. Beide hotel zijn dicht bij een metrostation gelegen dus u door de stad begeven is kinderspel. Hotel Cocoon is een goed keuze en heeft onze aanbeveling..

Loden-Frey shopping since 1842, Munich

Imagine a family shop in clothing that exists already 170 years. If you stay this long in business, you must be unique and provide quality. The Loden-Frey shop is located at the Frauenkirche Dom in a nice building with a covered walking gallery. It was late in the evening in the store was closed but I could not avoid taking some pictures. The glass entrance door is decorated with puppets as door handles. The shop windows are very colourful and the clothing is special, a combination between classic dress code and the playfulness of Bavaria. The question is however, would I wear a lederhosen with a jacket?

Beeld je een familiewinkel in die al 170 jaar bestaat. Als je zaak zo lang open kan blijven, moet je wel uniek zijn en kwaliteit leveren. De Loden-Frey winkel is gelegen aan de Frauenkirche kathedraal, in een mooi gebouw met overdekte wandelgalerij. Het was reeds laat in de avond maar ik kon het niet nalaten enkele foto’s te nemen. De glazen inkomdeur is versierd met beeldjes als handvatten. De etalages zijn zeer kleurrijk en de kledij is uniek, een combinatie van klassieke kledij met het speelse van Bayeren. De vraag is echter, zie je mij al lopen in een lederhosen met klassiek vestje.?

The Maximilianeum a fantastic government building in Munich

The Munich Maximilianeum building completed in 1874 is not only the seat of the Bayers Parlement but also of the foundation for gifted students. It is located near the ISAR in front of the Maximiliansbrücke. The facade of the building is in fact a giant display of paintings informing us about some important historic moments and personalities. On the roof you find statues and above the window arches, marmel busts. When we took the garden picture near the fountain we saw two security people coming in our direction. We quickly requested some information about the building and inquired if we could enter for a visit. The answer was a polite no!!! Pity.

Het Maximilianeum gebouw in München werd voltooid in 1874 en is de zetel van het Beierse Parlement en tevens de stichting voor hoogbegaafde studenten. Het is aan de ISAR gelegen recht tegenover de Maximiliansbrücke. De gevel van het gebouw is in feite een grote voorstelling van schilderijen die historische momenten en figuren uitbeelden. Op het dak vind je standbeelden en boven de booggewelven van de ramen, marmeren borstbeelden. Toen we de fontein foto maakten stonden we in de tuin en werden we benaderd door twee mensen van de beveiliging. We vroegen hen snel wat informatie over het gebouw en of het mogelijk was het aan de binnenzijde te bezoeken. Het antwoord was een beleefde Neen!!! Spijtig..
