The start of a Caribbean cruise, leaving Port Everglades with a cocktail party

We just love cruising and we are not the only ones. Arriving at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, there is a traffic jam to enter the port. There are ten large cruise ships in the harbour of which eight are on the side where our ship the Celebrity Eclipse is docked. The Eclipse is one of the largest ships of the Celebrity fleet with a capacity of 2,850 guests. In this port it was it one of the smaller ship. In total around 30.000 cruise passengers were leaving Port Everglades that evening.

We took a few pictures of cruise ships leaving the port towards to open ocean. Among them are three ships from Princess Cruises, one from Holland America, one from Silversea, one from Carnival and the Oasis of the Seas from Royal Caribbean, the second largest cruise ship in the world. Carnival and Royal Caribbean are more entertainment and party ships. You could really here the crowds go wild when sailing out. We also had a sail away pool deck cocktail party with live music but in a relaxed ambience, just as we like it.

We houden van cruisen en zijn hiermee niet alleen. Bij onze aankomst in Port Everglades stond er een file om de haven binnen te rijden. Er lagen tien grote cruise schepen in de haven waarvan acht aan de zijde waar ook de Celebrity Eclipse aangemeerd lag. De Eclipse is het grootste schip van Celebrity cruises met een capaciteit van 2.850 gasten. In deze haven was de Eclipse één van de kleinere schepen. In totaliteit vertrokken er die avond ongeveer 30.000 passagiers uit Port Everglades. 

We namen enkele foto’s van de cruise schepen op weg naar open zee. Onder hen drie schepen van Princess Cruises, één van Holland America, één van Silversea, één van Carnival en de Oasis of the Seas van Royal Caribbean, het tweede grootste cruise schip ter wereld. Carnival en Royal Caribbean zijn meer show en feestboten. Tijdens het uitvaren was er reeds een wilde party aan de gang en kon je de feestgangers van ver horen. Wij hadden ook een sail away cocktail party aan het zwembad. Er was een life band met aangename muziek, juist zoals we het graag hebben..

Oasis of the Seas, the largest Cruise schip in the world

When arriving at Port Everglades, we recognised one of the Cruise Ships in the port. This is very strange because we have never been on a cruise. The ship in questions is the newest vessel of RoyalCaribbean and is called “Oasis of the Seas”. It is the biggest Cruise ship in the world and was first used in 2009. It has a capacity of 5.400 passengers and 2.165 crew members. It is a small city at sea. We recognised it because the back of the ship is open, and has an amphitheatre in open air. It looks very impressive.

Wanneer we aankwamen in Port Everglades herkenden we één van de Cruise schepen. Dit is zeer raar, daar wij nog nooit op Cruise zijn geweest. Het schip in kwestie is het nieuwste vaartuig van RoyalCaribbean en noemt “Oasis of the Seas”. Dit is het grootste Cruise schip ter wereld en werd voor het eerst in gebruik genomen in 2009. Het heeft een capaciteit van 5.400 passagiers en 2.165 bemanningsleden. Het is een kleine stad op zee. We herkenden het daar de achterzijde van het schip open is, en wordt gebruikt als een open lucht theater. Het ziet er zeer indrukwekkend uit.
