Vittorio Emanuele II, the first King of Italy and his monument in Rome

This monument was completed in 1935, so it is young. It is located at the Piazza Venezia and the large palace is completely in white marble. This is totally different than other buildings in Rome. The statues and decorations are fabulous. The flame burns at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and guards are vigilant. Many local people don’t like the monument because it doesn’t blend in with the other great buildings of Rome. The visit in the monument is free of charge as also the war museum. If you like to visit the observation deck, you have to pay a fee but it is well worth it.

Dit monument werd voltooid in 1935, dus het is zeer recent. Het is gelegen aan de Piazza Venezia en het grote witte paleis in volledig in marmer. Dit is geheel verschillend dan andere gebouwen in Rome. De beelden en de decoraties zijn ongelooflijk. De vlam brandt aan het Graf van de Onbekende Soldaat en de soldaten op wacht zijn alert. Vele lokale mensen houden niet van dit gebouw, het past volgens hen niet in het beeld van Rome. Het monument en het oorlogsmuseum kunnen gratis worden bezocht. Voor het observatie terras dient toegang te worden betaald, maar dat is het zeker waard..
