The Blue Elephant, a top quality Thai restaurant in Phuket town

You approach the restaurant via the garden in which gigantic trees hold white birdcages as decorations. The trees must be very old because they are gigantic both in width as height. The Blue Elephant mansion is exceptional. This Thai Portuguese mansion is renovated to perfection. This is the most famous Thai restaurant of Phuket.

We start our lunch with a cocktail and are served some amuses accompanied by a small orchid, the national flower. The restaurant has an eye for food presentation. As a starter we share a few spring rolls and a mixed platter of local warm tasters. Have you ever seen a blue dumpling? It was also the first time for us. At the end of the lunch we were invited in the modern bar, time for a picture in tourist outfit. We are a bit underdressed for the occasion.

Je wandelt naar het restaurant via de tuin waarin gigantische bomen staan versierd met witte vogelkooitjes. Deze bomen moeten wel zeer oud zijn, ze zijn zowel heel breed als hoog. Het Blue Elephant herenhuis is bijzonder. Deze Thais Portugese villa is tot in de perfectie gerenoveerd. Dit is het meest beroemde Thaise restaurant van Phuket. 

We starten onze lunch met een cocktail en krijgen hierbij enkele amuses begeleid door een kleine orchidee, de nationale bloem van Thailand. Het restaurant heeft een goed gevoel voor bord presentatie. We delen een voorgerechten bord en enkele loempia's. Heb ooit al blauw paarse Dim Sum gezien? Voor ons was het ook de eerste keer. Aan het einde van de lunch werden we uitgenodigd in een moderne bar, tijd voor een foto in onze toeristen plunje. Bij nader inzicht waren we toch iets te informeel gekleed voor dit restaurant.
