Thai Hua Museum, Phuket Town

In Phuket Town you find many historical mansions. The Thai Hua museum which focusses on the traditional Thai way of living is located in such a mansion. Visitors get an insight in parts of Thailand’s history: the war, mining activities and antique furniture.

You get the opportunity to take a picture together with the Royal Family. They are displayed on a large beautiful board. The Royal Family is highly respected in the country.

In Phuket Town vind je vele historische herenhuizen. Het Thai Hua museum dat zich richt op de Thaise traditionele wijze van leven is opgesteld in zo'n herenhuis. Bezoekers krijgen een inzicht in de rijke Thaise geschiedenis van oorlog, mijnontginning en antieke meubelen. 

Je kan er zelfs een foto van jou met je familie nemen, samen met de Koninklijke Familie. Zij worden afgebeeld op een mooi levensgroot bord in het museum. De Koninklijke Familie is zeer gerespecteerd in het ganse land.

Having fun in the Trick Eye Museum, Phuket Town

For people who like to take selfies or make funny pictures, the Trick Eye Museum in Phuket Town is an excellent visit. Next to the funny displays, there is always staff available to help you taking the best possible picture, they even do is with your camera you while you stand in the decor.

Below you find some examples of E.T. , paintings, paragliding, TV special effects, sports cars, magazine covers and movies. Have fun.

Voor mensen die graag selfies maken of grappige foto's, is het Trick Eye Museum in Phuket Town een uitstekend bezoek. Naast grappige decors helpt het personeel u de best mogelijke foto's te maken. Zij doen dit zelfs met uw camera wanneer jij in het decor staat.

Wat Puttamongkon temple with its school, Phuket

This temple is located right in the center of Phuket Town. The Wat Puttamongkon has a school for monks but next to it, there is also an elementary and secondary school. In front of the temple stood several food stands. They were selling bowls of rice, fried fish and vegetables and above all lots of meat. Many children and parent were buying a snack.

The children were practicing for a festival. They all wore white and yellow shirts, everyone was singing, laughing and clapping. This provided nice photo opportunities and curious looks in my direction.

The Wat Puttamongkon has beautiful blue and gold combinations. The bright blue colors give it a fresh new look. We were the most impressed by the large brown stupa surrounded by smaller white ones.

Deze tempel staat in het stadscentrum van Phuket Town. De Wat Puttamongkon heeft een opleidingscentrum voor monniken en naast de tempel is er ook een basis en middelbare school gevestigd. Voor de tempel stonden vele voedselkraampjes. Men verkocht er kommetjes met rijst, gefrituurde vis en groeten, en boven alles, stapels vlees. Vele kinderen en ouders kochten er snacks.

De kinderen repeteerden er voor een festival. Ze droegen allen witte en gele hemden, iedereen zong, lachte en klapte in de handen. Dit gaf ons leuke fotomomenten en ook nieuwsgierige blikken in mijn richting. 

De Wat Puttamongkon bevat prachtige blauw gouden versieringen. De felle blauwe kleuren zijn verfrissend en geven een moderne jonge uitstraling aan de tempel. We waren het meest verrast door een hoge bruine stoepa omringt door kleinere witte.

Jui Tui Shrine and temple, Phuket Town

The Jui Tui temple is one of the most important Chinese temples of the island and located at the corner of Ranong Road, where you find the fresh market and many local shops. On special occasions like the Phuket vegetarian festival and Chinese New Year, it is always crowded. During our visit we were one of the few tourists.

That's me in front of the Chinese gate. The walls are decorated with rocks and resemble a mountain landscape. At another gate you see the picture of the King Bhumibol, he is highly respected by the whole Thai population. He is the longest reigning King in the world.

This is a nice temple with beautiful roof elements and statues of guards. The shrine altar is covered by a large number of statues, they all face the same direction and most of them have long black beards. There was one statue of a lady, dressed in white, holding a child. It made us think of Our Lady with Jesus, is this a link to Christianity?

De Jui Tui tempel is één van de belangrijkste Chinese tempels van het eiland en is gelegen op de hoek van Ranong Road, waar je de vers-markt en vele lokale winkeltjes vindt. Bij speciale gebeurtenissen zoals het Vegetarisch Festival of het Chinese Nieuwjaar, is het hier altijd overvol. Tijdens ons bezoek waren wij één van de weinige aanwezigen.

Even poseren voor de Chinese poort, dit doen we gewoon te weinig. De muren zijn versierd met stenen en lijken op een berglandschap. Bij een andere poort zie je het portret van Koning Bhumibol, een zeer gerespecteerde vorst door de volledige Thaise bevolking. Hij is tevens het langst regerende staatshoofd ter wereld. 

Het is een prachtige tempel met mooie dak elementen en standbeelden van wachters. Het altaar staat volledig vol beelden die allen dezelfde richting uitkijken. De meesten hebben een lange zwarte baard. Er stond een beeld van een vrouw, gekleed in het wit, samen met haar kind. Het deed ons denken aan Maria met Jezus. Bestaat er hier een verband met het christendom?
