Restaurant Como Yan Sushi, good quality Japanese cuisine

This sushi restaurant is decorated with modern art work and white flowers. We like this style. When traveling we try to find good Japanese restaurants and have a sushi for lunch. We selected the salmon and shrimp tartar, and some sushi and sashimi tastings. We would return to the Como Yan Sushi restaurant.

Restaurant Watatsumi on Plaza Espagna, Barcelona

On the roof of the Arenas on Plaza Espagna, you find many restaurants. One is a good Japanese called Watatsumi. This restaurant can be combined with a visit to the Arenas shopping center and from above you have spectacular views of the Venetian Towers and the National Palace.

Let's go back to the restaurant. It has a modern interior with fantastic bar. They use a lot of fish images in the decorations, which blends in perfectly with the style of the Japanese cuisine.

We decided to start with some warm Dim Sums something Kristel really likes and a tuna tartar. As a main course we had the teriyaki salmon and a bento box combining sushi and sashimi. We can recommend this restaurant which serves quality food at fair prices.

Restaurant Tatsu in the Intercontinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

We really like Japanese restaurants and Tatsu is one of the best we have ever tried. It is located in the Intercontinental Hotel of Kuala Lumpur, has a modern look and nice wine bar. We selected a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc “Ventisquero” from the Casablanca Valley in Chile. The reason we selected this wine was that we recently drove through the same valley in Chile. We didn’t doubt.

We started with sushi and sashimi, a soup and lightly fried duck filet and a marinated baked salmon. As main course we had the sushi from the chef. We finished with fruit and Earl Grey Tea ice cream. A very successful evening.

Tatsu remembered us of one of our favorite roller coasters in Six Flags Magic Mountain Valencia, California. It is the highest and fastest flying coaster in the world.

Great service and quality in Restaurant Miyama, Madrid

Is the crisis over in Spain? We think yes. For last weekend, three weeks in advance, we tried to make reservations in about ten restaurants before restaurant Miyama confirmed our table for two for the lunch on Saturday. The restaurant is located in Calle Flor Baja in the center of Madrid.

We were welcomed by several friendly staff members. We tried a combination of seven different sashimi’s containing salmon, mackerel, scallop, grouper, tuna, tuna belly and cod. We also shared some Nigiri, Maki sushi's, inside out California Rolls and some Spicy tune rolls. The dessert was offered by the house.

The restaurant had a reasonable wine list and served the selected French Meursault at the right temperature in good quality glasses. They had good Bordeaux glasses which they used for all wines, it is a pity they do not have white Bourgogne or proper Champagne glasses. They were serving very good Champagne at fair prices.

Overall the service and food were of very good quality. We even considered going back the next day but they are closed on Sundays. We can recommend this Japanese restaurant Miyama and will go back the next time we are in Madrid.

Silk Harvest restaurant, contemporary Asian cuisine on Celebrity Cruises

The outside of the restaurant looks like a Japanese room and on the table stands a small bonsai three. We have a table at the window and the sea below us glides by. As fish lovers we start with some Nigiri sushi and some Maki rolls. We also tried the red curry duck and Beef Chow Mein noodles.

Many of the Asian countries are represented, the menu has a selection from Japan, China, Thailand and Vietnam. We love the restaurant on evenings when we want to dine light. You can order as many small plates as you want and take your time to enjoy a bottle of wine or some sake. After this feast we went to a musical production show in the main theatre.

Authentic Japanese kitchen in restaurant Morikawa, The Hague

In the Balistraat in The Hague you find a very small Japanese restaurant which serves excellent sushi and sashimi. In the evening hours, it is always full and reservations are absolutely necessary to ensure you have a table.

Compared to many Asian restaurants, Morikawa has a good wine menu, offering a wide range of grape types. The wine is served at the right temperature and the owner is a very friendly guy. This is the best Japanese restaurant we know outside Japan. An excellent choice for fish lovers.
