Speciality Restaurant Murano of Celebrity Cruises

Restaurant Murano stands for service and style. The restaurant is very beautifull and many of the dishes are prepared at the table. In the restaurant you have a large wine selection which is served in Riedel glasses. On this occasion we had as starter the combination of salmon, crab and salmon eggs. A second starter was a wild mushroom capucinno. As main course we had at the table prepared grilled lobster. This was really nice. To end the evening we choose a chocolate dessert. It is a very good restaurant of the Celebrity Solstice Class.

Restaurant Murano staat voor goede service en stijl. Het restaurant is mooi en vele van de gerechten worden aan tafel klaargemaakt. Het restaurant heeft een grote wijnkaart en deze worden geserveerd in Riedel glazen. Bij dit bezoek kozen we voor een combinatie van zalm, krab en zalmeieren als voorgerecht. Als tweede gang een wilde paddenstoelen cappuccino. Het hoofdgerecht was een aan tafel gegrilde kreeft. Deze was uitstekend. Om de avond te beëindigen namen we nog een chocolade dessert. Three cruise ships in the harbour of Kusadasi

Early morning, we went to the 14th deck for an outdoor breakfast and the Celebrity Silhouette was already docked in the harbour of Kusadasi. The arrival in the port was so smooth that we even didn’t feel it. Next to us, we saw another cruise ship. To our surprise it was the Brilliance of the Seas from Royal Caribbean, the ship we will cruise on at the end of the year. Also P&O Cruises was also present with the Aurora. The port is directly on the beach and the city centre of Kusadasi. This is a top location for a walk, a swim on the beach, shopping or a restaurant stop in town. In the evening we took a nice picture of the sun set.

Vroeg in de ochtend gaan we naar het 14de dek van de Celebrity Silhouette voor een ontbijt in open lucht, het schip ligt reeds aangemeerd in de haven van Kusadasi. De aankomst was zo zacht dat we niet eens wakker zijn geworden. Naast ons ligt een ander cruise schip. Tot onze verrassing is het de Brilliance of the Seas van Royal Caribbean, het schip waarop we gaan varen aan het einde van het jaar. Ook P&O Cruises is aanwezig met de Aurora. De haven ligt direct aan het strand en het stadscentrum van Kusadasi. Een ideale locatie om te zwemmen, wandelen, winkelen of een restaurant bezoekje. ’s Avonds nemen we nog een mooie foto van de zonsondergang..

Celebrity Silhouette in the harbour of Mykonos

From in Chora, between the fishers’ boats we look to the other side of the bay and see the Celebrity Silhouette. The ship looks small but in reality it is 16 decks high, what you can see on the picture of the back of the ship. If you would like to visit Mykonos as a cruise ship passenger you can easily get to town via shuttle busses at a low fare. There are also some nice yachts here, probably from some rich pensioners. What do you think of this Pelican? Yes, it is a real one.

Vanuit Chora, tussen de vissersboten, aan de andere kant van de baai zie je de Celebrity Silhouette. Het schip ziet er klein uit maar in werkelijkheid is het 16 verdiepingen hoog, wat goed te zien is op de foto van de achterkant van de boot. Cruise passagiers die Mykonos willen bezoeken kunnen voor een laag tarief een shuttle bus nemen. Een excursie boeken is dus niet nodig. Cruising through the street of Messina with the wind blowing in your hair

In the south of Italy, the Street of Messina is dividing the main land from Sicily. It is a busy commercial route for ships carrying oil, containers and passengers. In the harbour we see the Holland America Noordam cruise ship docked. The hills on both sides of the Italian shores are very beautiful and the wind blows very furious entering the passage to the southern Mediterranean Sea. A nice opportunity to make some playful photos of Kristel on the top deck of the Celebrity Silhouette. Doesn't she look like a top model?

In het zuiden van Italië, splijt de Straat van Messina het vaste land af van Sicilië. Het is een drukke commerciële vaarroute voor schepen die olie, containers en passagiers vervoeren. In de haven zien we de Noordam van de Holland America cruise rederij liggen. De heuvels aan beide Italiaanse kustlijnen hebben een ruwe schoonheid en de wind waait krachtig door de waterpassage naar de zuidelijke Middellandse Zee. Een mooie gelegenheid om enkele speelse foto's te maken van Kristel op het bovenste dek van de Celebrity Silhouette. Ziet ze er niet uit als een top model.?

Celebrity Silhouette, the newest ship of Celebrity Cruises

Only two months ago, we decided to try out the newest ship of Celebrity Cruises. The Silhouette is taking us on a journey to the “Holy Land”. The ship is enormous, it weighs 122.000 tons and a capacity of around 3.000 passengers. On sea days, we found the ship very stable, there is enough entertainment, speciality restaurants, and the bars & lounges all have style. The staff are friendly and provide a very good service. This is a ship of the Solstice class and offers passengers the possibility to walk on the lawn of deck 15. After dinner you have numerous possibilities like going to a theatre shows, a lounge with live music, or the try your luck in the Casino. An excellent ship as you can see on the pictures.

Slechts twee maanden geleden besloten we het nieuwe schip van Celebrity Cruises uit te proberen. De Silhouette neemt ons mee op een vaart naar het “Heilige Land”. Het schip is enorm, weegt 122.000 ton en heeft een capaciteit van ongeveer 3.000 passagiers. We vonden dat de Silhouette zeer stabiel was op zeedagen, er is genoeg entertainment, specialiteiten restaurants, en alle bars en lounges zijn stijlvol ingericht. Het personeel is vriendelijk en biedt een goede dienstverlening aan. Dit schip uit de Solstice klasse, geeft passagiers de mogelijkheid van een echt grasperk op dek 15 te genieten samen met een drankje. Na het avondeten kan je naar een show gaan, een bar met live muziek of spelen in het Casino. Een uitstekende aanwinst voor de Celebrity vloot zoals je kan zien op de foto’s..

Celebrity Silhouette Tuscan Grill, excellent Italian Restaurant

When we cruise with Celebrity, we always enjoy the speciality restaurants. On the Silhouette there newest ship, they have several speciality restaurants. At first glance a grill restaurant is normally good quality food, no high standards. Boy we were proved wrong. The Tuscan Grill is most likely our best Italian restaurant ever. The restaurant has spectacular views on the back of the ship. We had a window table and could enjoy the sun set. The food was excellent, we selected meat from the menu this evening with an antipasti amuse from the chef, a beef Carpaccio with octopus and dried tomatoes, a ravioli with mushrooms and white truffle oil, the filet mignon with a Barolo sauce and a special Crème Brulée with red fruits. The sommelier coming from Croatia recommended a very good bottle of Sondraia. A super evening like so many on Celebrity cruises.

Als we op cruise gaan met Celebrity genieten we altijd van de specialiteiten restaurants. Op de Silhouette, hun nieuwste schip, zijn er verschillende beschikbaar. Van een grill restaurant verwacht je normaal goede kwaliteit maar niets hoogstaand. Ons verwachtingspatroon lag veel te laag en wij zijn toch zeer kritisch. Het Tuscan Grill Restaurant is hoogstwaarschijnlijk ons beste Italiaans restaurant ooit. Het restaurant heeft een spectaculair uitzicht op de achterkant van het schip. Aan ons tafeltje aan het raam hebben we dan ook genoten van de zonsondergang. Het eten was uitstekend, we kozen voor vlees die avond met een antipasti amuse van de chef, een rundcarpaccio met octopusschijfjes en zongedroogde tomaten, een ravioli met champignons en witte truffelolie, de filet pur met Barolo saus, en een speciale Crème Brulée met rode vruchten. De vrouwelijke Sommelier uit Croatië raadde ons een zeer goede fles Sondraia wijn aan. Een super avond zoals we gewoon zijn op Celebrity Cruises..
