The “St. Pieterstoren”, and the Petrus-Paulus church in Oostende

The Petrus-Paulus church is only 100 years old, it is in a neo gothic architecture. It replaced a church which a burned down accept for the original Saint Peter’s Tower dating from 1478. This church has been built to the model of the Dom in Köln. In the chapel at the back you find the grave of Queen Louise Marie who died in Oostende in 1850. We like to visit churches but this one was closed when we were there. More and more this is the case in Europe out of fear for theft. What a shame society shows less respect for other people’s property.

  4. such amazing architecture; thankyou Filip for sharing these photos on your travels. I agree with your comment about respect for property wholeheartedly. The restraints that are tried over and over marring the original concept, just to try and preserve etc.
