The fishers’ cay in Oostende “Visserskaai” is where some of the fisher boats arrive with their daily catch. You have an area were fresh fish directly from the sea is sold to the public but for people who are hungry, there are also fish stands who sell ready to eat products like escargot, mixed cold and smoked fish, shrimps… By the way, one of the specialities is dried fish as you see on the fist picture. It is something else than a burger or French fries.

ReplyDeleteHere we also have dried fish, but the most popular one is the salted fish or the local calls it 'ikan masin' (direct translation 'ikan' = fish, 'masin' = salty).

ReplyDeleteI like fish dishes...
Greetings Karin.
The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pictures of seafood look appetizing, but not so much the first. It kind of reminds me of my grandmother who used to dry fish outside her apartment window.
ReplyDeleteI mistook the dried fish for tattered cloth and was intently examining the"frays" before I read the blog! Why is it that I'm always hungry after reading one of your food posts?
ReplyDeleteOh, fresh seafood is such a treat!! But I won't easily find escargot downunder in Australia - so I'll leave that one for you!!
ReplyDeleteExotic dry fish !
