This small church on the highest point of the village overlooking the lake of Bracciano was built in the 16th century. During the late 18th century the church was closed for more than 30 years to undergo renovation works. It is hard to imagine that such a town in a very religious region can survive without a church for 30 years.
The altar is very famous because of the painting made by Girolamo Muziano displaying “The Assumption”. Also many other paintings can be found in the church, against the walls but also the ceiling. For me, the eye catcher was the black Madonna with her baby. You don’t see this very often.
