Looking at the old city of Suzhou, you wouldn’t tell there are more than 10 million people living here. In China, they compare Suzhou a bit with Venice because it contains a maze of canals. We enjoyed a boat trip on the multitude of water ways. Luckily we could buy some funny Chinese hats to protect us a bit against the poring rain.
Suhzou is about 2.500 years old and is known for its silk, canals and gardens. We visited a market with our feet in the mod. This is just incomparable to European markets. Here they sell all kinds of animals that are still alive. Examples are: shrimp, snakes, eel, chicken, turtles… They are being prepared or killed right in front of your eyes. We know one thing for sure, animal rights do not exist in China and for us as animal lovers it was a hard confrontation.
Hier verkoopt men allerlei levende dieren zoals garnalen, slangen, paling, kip, schildpadden...
