Victoria Peak and views of Kowloon from above, Hong Kong

The futuristic building on the highest mountain of this Chinese island is called Victoria Tower and houses a shopping centre and a Madame Tussaud museum. It has an unusual shape and looks like it has been constructed up side down. It is easy to reach Victoria Peak by tram or taxi.

From the 552m high mountain top, you have spectacular views on the Kowloon skyscrapers and bay. It is amazing to see how the towers are built around the Victoria harbour. I think we stood there for almost an hour with our mouth open. We were stunned.

Het futuristische gebouw op de hoogste berg van Hong Kong eiland wordt de Vicotria Tower genoemd en huist een winkelcentrum en een Madame Tussaud museum. Vanwege zijn bijzondere vorm lijkt het alsof het onderste boven is neergezet. Deze plaats kan makkelijk worden bereikt met de tram of taxi.

Van op de 552m hoge berg, heb je spectaculaire vergezichten op de wolkenkrabbers van Kowloon en zijn baai. Het is verbazingwekkend te zien hoe alle bouwwerken rond het water zijn opgetrokken. We denken dat wij daar ongeveer een uur hebben gestaan met open mond. We waren gewoon verstomd.

The Dam with the Royal Palace and Madame Tussauds, Amsterdam

The Dam is one of the most important squares of Amsterdam and is located in the heart of the centre. This Palace is used by the queen for official royal ceremonies. In the 17th century this was in fact the City Hall but in 1808 became the Royal Palace. The palace is also called “Oranje Paleis”.

On the Dam there are a few other interesting buildings like the famous Dutch supermarket called “De Bijenkorf”. Translated it means Bee Basket. On the other side you find “Peek & Cloppenburg” a fashion house with many top brands. In this building you also find the Dutch “Madame Tussaud” exhibition. Many young people gather around the column of the National Monument or hang around on the Dam. Don’t miss this when you visit Amsterdam.

De Dam is één van de belangrijkste pleinen in Amsterdam en is gelegen in het hart van de binnenstad. Het Koninklijk Paleis wordt door de Koningin gebruikt voor officiële staatsbezoeken en ceremonies. In de 17de eeuw was dit nog het stadhuis maar vanaf 1808 werd het een paleis voor het Nederlandse koningshuis. Het wordt ook “Oranje Paleis” genoemd.

Op de Dam zijn er een paar andere mooie gebouwen zoals de beroemde supermarkt “De Bijenkorf”. Aan de andere zijde vind je “Peek & Cloppenburg” een modehuis met vele top merken. Hier is ook het Nederlandse “Madame Tussaud” huis in gevestigd. Veel jongeren verzamelen rond de zuil van het Nationaal Monument of hangen wat rond op de Dam. Vergeet deze plaats niet te bezoeken wanneer je in Amsterdam bent..
