Traditional Japanese sushi and sashimi in Morikawa, The Hague

We are sushi lovers and it is hard to find good Japanese restaurants. We know a few in Tokyo, one in Munich and now one in The Hague, The Netherlands. It is called, Morikawa in the Bali street. You feel these are real Japanese people and the sushi and sashimi is great. You think that you are in Japan, except for the prices, the food is rather expensive, the drinks are cheap. That's indeed the opposite of Japan. A restaurant we can recommend.

We houden van sushi en het is zo moeilijk om een goed Japans restaurant te vinden. We kennen enkele goede in Tokyo, München en nu in Nederland. Het is Morikawa in de Bali straat in Den Haag. Je voelt gewoon dat dit echt de Japanse traditie is. De sushi en de sashimi zijn gewoon uitstekend. Je waant je gewoon in Japan, behalve de prijzen, het eten is redelijk duur maar de drank is goedkoop. In Japan is dit juist omgekeerd. Een restaurant dat we kunnen aanbevelen..

Mykonos, the island with more than 400 churches

On every corner of the street you find a church in Mykonos. Most of them are the size of a normal house in The Netherlands. The most important cathedral is the Panagia Paraportiani which consists of several chapels but it still is very small. I am sure you can not seat a 100 people here. It is completely white and the oldest chapel dates from 1425. At Baou (street) facing the Main Catholic church, you see 5 churches next to each other in the same street. This is very funny. What we like the most is the unusual shapes, and the blue and red coloured roofs. A glimpse inside makes you think you are in the world of Smurfs, everything is in miniature.

Op iedere hoek van de straat vind je een kerk in Mykonos. De meeste zijn de grootte van een normaal huis in Nederland. De meest belangrijke kathedraal is de Panagia Paraportiani die bestaat uit verschillende kapellen maar het blijft klein. We zijn er zeker van dat je er geen 100 mensen kan laten zitten. Het gebouw is volledig wit en de oudste kapel dateert uit 1425. Als je op Baou (straat) staat en kijkt naar de belangrijkste katholieke kerk, zie je 5 kerken naast elkaar in dezelfde straat. Dit is zeer grappig. We vinden het leuk dat de meeste kerken zeer ongebruikelijke vormen hebben, soms met rode of blauwe daken. Een glimp naar binnen en je waant jezelf in de wereld van de smurfen, alles is in miniatuur..

Chora in white and blue colours, the capital of Mykonos

Mykonos is a famous but small island of the Greek Cyclades group. There live only 5.000 Greeks who mainly generate their income from the tourist industry. This is not surprising because they almost get 1 million tourists a year. The town of Chora is located around a bay with crystal clear water. From the hill tops you can take beautiful pictures from the city centre and the bay but you have to climb the steep hiking trails. Everywhere you look you see churches, shops, restaurants and bars. Be careful that you don’t loose your way because the narrow streets make it a real labyrinth. This is a top location to go for a walk and have a snack on a terrace.

Mykonos is een beroemd maar klein Grieks eiland van de Cycladen groep. Er wonen slechts 5.000 Grieken die allen leven van het toerisme. Dit is niet verrassend daar er hier ieder jaar ongeveer 1 miljoen bezoekers komen. Chora stad ligt rond een baai met kristal helder water. Na een steile klim op wandelpaadjes kan je van uit de heuvels prachtige foto’s nemen van de stad en de baai. Het kost wel wat fysieke inspanning om er te geraken. Overal vind je kerken, winkeltjes, restaurants en bars. Wees echter op je hoede, je kan makkelijk de weg kwijt geraken in dit labyrint van smalle steegjes. Dit is een top locatie om te gaan wandelen en te genieten van een snack op een terras..
