The Old Box - 1987: With six in bed, on a Carpathian Mountain, Romania

It is this time of the month again, the old box article. We are going back to 1987, I was 17 years old and on a skiing holiday with youngsters from a health insurance company. The dictator Nicolae Ceausescu was still ruling his country with a hard hand. Foreigners had to be accompanied by armed military the whole day, even on the ski slopes but in the evening they found an easy solution.

At the end of each skiing day the lifts closed but instead of going down the mountain, we had to stay in a chalet on the top. It was dark, no way to get down again and the foreigners were isolated, no possibilities to talk to the local people of this former communist country. We were however not concerned and partied all the time, here you see a picture of us in bed with six boys, do you recognise me?

Graffiti in the vicinity of Lisbon port area

Looking for graffiti in major cities around the world, we found some nice examples in the vicinity of the Lisbon port area. The robot man that holds a boat in his hands is a perfect piece of art but not all graffiti is art. Some of the small alleys look even a bit frightening. Luckily it was still daylight.

A bit further, an old deserted warehouse wall was covered with paintings of coloured dots, three headed women, an Indian girl riding a leopard, a yawning child, a man with a tiger head, horses and a robot holding a very nice girl.
