The cozy Fish Market (Vismarkt) and the Dijle in Mechelen

The “Vismarkt” or Fish market in Mechelen is the place to have a drink on a sunny terrace or an evening out in one of the trendy bars. For decades already, this is one of the areas where young people come together in the evening to have fun. The local fish trader Emiel is offering fresh products and in this season, also the “Nieuwe maatjes” or young herring. On the one side of the “Dijle” river you see the newly constructed buidlings and some art pieces. The two banks are connected by a modern pedestrian bridge. On the modern side, they have built platforms for people who like to make a walk alongside the river.
