Ben's Café and brasserie at KLCC, Kuala Lumpur

It was hard to find a restaurant at the KLCC where we could relax and enjoy some western food. We tried out Ben's Café because it was not so crowded and the interior looked relaxing.

We choose a sandwich with chips, a hamburger with fries and a wrap. After one hour, we were ready to hit the city again. It was necessary to eat something before diner late in the evening.

Exclusive shopping at Harrods, now also in Kuala Lumpur

Harrods department store is probably the most exclusive large size shopping Centre in the world. We only saw comparable stores in Paris with La Fayette and Le Printemps. Once a typical English store from London is expanding and has opened a shop in KLCC Kuala Lumpur.

It is just a small shop with the Harrods branding. They sell tea, coffee, biscuits, marmalade and other typical English products. Just like in London they also have a Champagne bar. In their gift baskets and at the entrance the teddy bear is clearly visible. Harrods is adjusting to the local KL preferences with its population loving teddy bears.

Shopping at Suria KLCC mall, Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur has many modern shopping malls but the Suria KLCC well known because it is connected to the Petronas Towers. The size of this six floor mall is enormous and new constructed. Most shops sell well known brands but you also have local merchants offering smaller items.

There is a food court and several restaurants. It is easy to spend half a day at KLCC: visit the Petronas Towers, the park, fountains and off course the Suria shopping centre.

Visiting the Skybridge and observation deck of the Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur

Visiting the Petronas Towers costs about 20 euro a person but it is well worth it. The twin towers are the highest in the world and owned by the Malaysian oil company Petronas. Entering on the ground floor you see a Formula One Mercedes sponsored by Petronas. On your ticket you have a reservation time that needs to be respected. The tour is well organized and visitors get a designated time in each interesting area. It avoids that the places become too crowded. Only a limited number of tourists are allowed in per day.

The SkyBridge is a double hanging corridor on the 41st and 42nd floor. The lower level at 170m altitude is for the tourist visits. The corridor above it is for staff going from the one tower to the other. At the connection points of the SkyBridge there is about half a meter room for flexibility so that the towers can move independently from the bridge. A great piece of architecture.

The views from the observation deck on the 86th floor, on an altitude of 360m, are spectacular. This is certainly not the highest observation deck in the world but it is still very interesting to visit. In our opinion the two symmetric Petronas Towers in Islamic patterns make these buildings unique.
