Large volume tuna delivery in the port of Manta

Arriving in the port of Manta with our Cruise ship, we docked next to a big cargo ship unloading frozen tuna fish. The tuna was lifted with cranes into large cooling containers. The temperature must be extremely cold. Once the tuna made contact with the hot air of this tropical region, you could see the steam escaping.

At the end of the day when we returned to the ship, they were still unloading tuna. How many tons have been delivered during the day? Thousands most likely. One of the passengers on the deck explained that ten years ago the tuna fish were a lot bigger than today.

For passengers who would like to discover Manta or the region on their own, there are many taxi's available at the port entrance gate. Don't worry about this, sharing your taxi with another couple provides you a full day trip at a cheap fare.

Home cooking special 3 – Tuna – Lobster - Deer

My wife Kristel is a fabulous cook and occasionally we invite friends for dinner and wine tasting. The creations served on those evenings have been tried out several times and fine tuned to perfection. The advantage is that I am eating several versions of these super ingredients before our guests are invited. So that’s a lot of fun.

This is our fourth Home Cooking Article on the blog and we hope to publish a few more in the future. Kristel has to find enough inspiration before we can do this again with new ingredients. On this evening we focussed on fish and game products. The description of the plates is mentioned below each picture.

I forgot to take pictures of the wine bottles but we started with Gosset Champagne, the oldest Champagne house in the world. For the fish and shell food we opened a Merseult of the Bichot house and with the meat a bottle of excellent Montus. Just for your information in the trial version I was not allowed to open the same bottles.
