Historical Buildings of Ghent

The old city of Ghent is a treasure with historical buildings like here at the Leie where we also find the "Loft" from the soap series "Louis-Louise". Located in the city center are the three towers: the Saint-Baafs Cathedral (which holds the painting of "Lam Gods" from the brothers "Van Eyck"), the Saint Nicholas church (see next blog article) and the Belfort tower. Next to this you find the City Hall and the "Rijksarchief".

Somewhat further in the area of the "Patershol" (a mideval part of the city with many restaurants) you also find a castle called "Steen" and the Saint-Jacob Church.

Gent is een stad vol met mooie historische gebouwen zoals hier aan de Leie waar ook de loft uit de Telenovelle Louis-Louise gelegen is. Op een centraal plein in de stad vind je de drie torens van de Sint-Baafskathedraal (met het lam gods van de gebroeders Van Eyck), de Sint-Niklaaskerk (zie volgends blogartikel) en het Belfort. Hiernaast staat ook het stadhuis. Nabij gelegen staat ook het rijksarchief.

Even verderop, nabij het Patershol, een pitoreske middeleeuwse buurt met veel restaurants heb je ook het Steen (een burcht) en de Sint-Jacobskerk.

Cinderella Cup 2009 - Antwerp

We had fun at the Cinderella Cup. With competitions for professionals in Modern, Latin American, Classical Showdance, Exhibition and Argentian Tango the evening program was diverse. Like every year the atmosphere was good and the dance floor available for all visitors during the frequent breaks.

It's a pity that only a few couples registered for each competition. I remember the years that the Cinderella Cup had many participants from several countries. This year there were only participants from Belgium, The Netherlands and Ukraine. The Professional Modern was the most popular competition with only 4 couples.

We hebben veel plezier gehad op de Cinderella Cup. Met competities voor Profs in Standaard, Latin American, Classical Showdance, Exhibition en Argentijnse Tango was het programma heel divers. Zoals elk jaar was de sfeer goed en de dansvloer beschikbaar voor de bezoekers gedurende de vele pauzes.

Het is jammer dat er heel weinig deelnemers waren voor alle competities. Ik herinner me de jaren dat er vele paren waren uit verschillende landen. Dit jaar waren er enkel paren uit Belgie, Nederland en de Oekraïne. De standaard competitie was het populairste met 4 deelnemende paren.

Snow in Zoetermeer - Tommie

It's snowing in Zoetermeer and Tommie our dog really enjoys it. In some places the snow is more than 30 cm deep. To my knowledge this is the first time we have so much snow.

Het sneeuwt in Zoetermeer en Tommie onze hond geniet ervan. Op sommige plaatsen is het meer dan 30 cm diep. Voor zover ik weet is dit de eerste keer dat er zo veel ligt.
