The Banana Bus and shopping in Oranjestad, Aruba

Aruba is an island of the Dutch Antilles but you do not expect to see a Holland windmill surrounded by palm trees. Oranjestad has a small yacht harbour next to the cruise port. We took a picture of a small fisher boat in front of the giant Caribbean Princess cruise ship. The distance between the two boats should not be underestimated so don’t start swimming.

Next to very colourful houses and busses like the Banana Bus, Oranjestad has nice bars, historical towers, parks, statues and lots of friendly people who have fun. The best shopping areas according to us are on the L.G. Smith Blvd. in front of the port and the Caya G. F. Betico Croes, a street which is being renovated to the best you can imagine. If you want to find extravagant and flashy clothing, in Oranjestad, you will find it.

  4. I love the red windmill picture, you can tell it was a very windy day. The banana bus is very cool, but my favorite today is the last picture, the row of beautiful pastel buildings.

Lieve groeten, Dietmut

  12. I like that building with the fancy spiral staircases. It looks strange to have a Pizza Hut in there. The surfing lizard looks cool. Where did the Banana Bus take you?
