Singapore’s newest main attraction “The Marina Bay”

The Marina Bay is the most impressive district of Singapore. It is modern with views of the city centre but also new constructions like the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, the Gardens at the Bay, the Singapore Flyer (giant ferry wheel), the Formula One circuit and we should not forget the older statue of the Merlion.

A mythical sea animal protecting the port of Singapore is partially a lion and a fish. The Merlion is continuously spitting water and one of the most photographed statues of the city. The views from the pier are amazing.

The top of the Marina Bay Sands hotel is in the shape of a ship. It is called the Skypark and rests on top of the 55th floor of the hotel. It contains an observation deck, a bar, a restaurant and a 150 meter long swimming pool. On the ground level you see a piece of art looking like a giant lotus flower.

  9. Amazing buildings. That hotel roof is something else. The flyer wasn't working when we were last there. We usually stop over in Singapore on the way to Europe. It sure has changed over the years but I feel its lost a bit of its character and has become a sterile city.

  10. Wow - I love the lines of that last photo - good eye, Filip! This city looks entirely modern - at least at the marina.
