Masjid Putra or the Pink Mosque of Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur

To have the best view on the Putra Mosque, our taxi dropped us of on the Persiaran Perdana bridge. Just above the water we see the little tourist boats in front of the majestic pink mosque with its tall minaret. In front of the mosque is a big roundabout with fountains, walking promenades, shops and restaurants.

The interior of the mosque is also pink and just blowed us away. The details are amazing and hosts keep the public away from the center of the main hall. This gives everyone the opportunity to see the whole mosque. The dome, chandeliers and glass work are impressive.

Be aware that tourists are not allowed inside during praying hours but after that everyone is welcome and no entrance fee has to be paid. This very young mosque completed in 1999 has a capacity of 15.000 worshippers. For us this is the second most impressive mosque we have seen, our favorite is still the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
