Restaurant Lafite - Shangri-La hotel, Kuala Lumpur

Like many KL hotels, we were impressed with the interior of the Shangri-La. Big curved staircases and fabulous chandeliers. Its restaurant Lafite is known for the French cuisine.

We selected the Chef's menu and had an amuse, a starter with scallops, wagyu steak and Grand Manier pancakes with ice cream. For me the wagyu and the dessert were the best. The level of the food doesn't reach a Michelin Star quality, in our opinion, but it is very good.

Wines are very expensive in South East Asia and Kuala Lumpur but this restaurant had some hidden treasures on their wine card. For the starter we selected an excellent Montrachet which was even priced below European standards. For the Wagyu we opened an average quality full bodied red wine. The service was very good and we would like to go back to restaurant Lafite.

  3. Filip, Luckily, it is soon dinner-time here, but my surroundings aren't as elegant and my meal is much simpler! Wish you had included a photo of you and Kristel - I always like to see you dressed up!
