Tour on the Celebrity Expedition

There she is, the Celebrity Expedition, a small cruise ship which residents permanently in the Galapagos. We are going to board and already see some animals: a pelican, a frigate and an iguana. We arrive with a high speed zodiac boat and see for the first time our small cabin in the bow of the ship. After fitting our wet suits and labeling them, we go on a deck for a meat and fish barbeque.

Daar is ze, de Celebrity Expedition, een klein cruise schip dat permanent op de Galapagos rondvaart. Voor we aan boort gingen zagen we nog enkele dieren: een pelikaan, een frigate en een leguaan. We komen er aan met een hoge snelheid zodiac en voor de eerste keer zien we onze kleine kajuit in de boeg van het schip. Na het passen en labelen van de wetsuits, worden we op het dek uitgenodigd voor een vlees en vis barbecue.

Circumnavigation of Daphne Mayor, Galapagos

After a short zodiac ride from Baltra port to the Celebrity Expedition ship, we put our luggage in the cabin and start cruising the Pacific Ocean. Above us we see a few frigate birds. We start our first afternoon relaxing with the circumnavigation of the rock island of Daphne Mayor. In our next article we will present you our expedition ship.

Na een korte zodiac rit van Baltra haven naar het Celebrity Expedition schip, zetten we onze bagage in de kajuit en beginnen we de cruise op de Stille Oceaan. Boven ons zien we enkele Frigate vogels. De eerste namiddag begint ontspannend met een vaart rond het rotseiland Daphne Mayor. In ons volgende artikel gaan we u het expeditie schip voorstellen.

Punta Vicente Roca zodiac excursion, Isabela Island, Galapagos

After lunch, we arrived at Punta Vicente Roca with the Celebrity Expedition. The zodiac boats are prepared and are lowered into the rough sea. For people sensitive to motion sickness, medication is required. Let the adventure begin.

The first part to reach the mountain wall was a bumpy ride. I was already regretting bringing my non waterproof camera. Luckily the equipment survived. We took some nice pictures of the waves breaking against the rocks, seals, nazca boobies and even a penguin.

Na de lunch kwamen we aan met de Celebrity Expedition bij Punta Vicente Roca. Zodiac bootjes werden voorbereid en neergelaten in de ruwe zee. Voor mensen met bewegingsziekte is dit geen eenvoudige trip, medicatie is noodzakelijk. Laat het avontuur beginnen. 

Het eerste deel naar de rotsformaties was heel ruw. Ik vreesde reeds voor mijn niet water bestendige camera. Gelukkig werd het foto materiaal niet beschadigd. We namen enkele mooie foto's van brekende golven, zeehonden, nazca boobies en zelf een pinguïn.
