Modern buildings of the fast growing capital of Germany, Berlin

The capital of Germany, Berlin is one of the fastest growing cities of Europe. The city was heavily bombarded in World War II and during the Cold War, many areas were just empty places. One of the new developed areas is Potsdamerplatz. Everywhere you walk you see futuristic buildings emerging.

Some of them use glass and metal in a high rise construction others work with colours and unusual shapes like the Vattenfall building with the white shark fin. Near the Tiergarten you find the Intercontinental Hotel with its pyramid entrance. The enormous white buildings of the government administration can be noticed from a distance. No doubt that the O2 World Arena and the HumboldtBox Infocenter are some of the most eccentric constructions.

  1. Ah Filip, I so love your Berlin photos! I did some nearly looking the same.... the Mauerläufer in front of the Springer House, The Cube.... so many nice motives.

Actually I am working at Geneva and hope very much to get a shot of the Mont Blanc. He is still hiding but I see the Alpes.

    Liebe Grüße,
    Pia

  5. Oh my goodness, you present such a lovely view of Berlin! I wonder the building that has the word Checkpoint on it, is that near the old Checkpoint Charlie location? I was there when I was 13 years old! (Only on the west side! of the wall)

  11. Just had a quick catch up with your berlin posts. It looks a very interesting city now with a very interesting history too. Some of the buildings are fantastic some look a bit of a hotch potch. I haven't been to Berlin so it is great to see it here. When we were in Dresden we saw the amazing VW factory made entirely out of glass.
