Retiro park, Madrid

Retiro park Madrid is enormous, 1,4 km² and located in the city centre of Madrid. It is a place where people come to do sports: running, tennis, football... There is a large rose garden but I have no pictures because this is not the right season for roses. One of the most important buildings in the park is the Crystal Palace, a glass pavilion. In front of it you have a small pond with many ducks and black swans. At the large pond that is used for boat rowing, you find the monument of Alfonso XII, he was the King of Spain from 1874 till 1885. He became King of Spain at the age of 17 and died from tuberculosis when he was 28. He guided his country through the war with the USA.
