The renovations were still going on at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam when we were there this summer. The building looks very nice and the style is similar to the Central Station. This is no surprise because both buildings were created by the same architect Mr. Pierre Cuypers. Our favourite feature of this building is the golden man sticking his head out of the window on one of the top floor. It is really shiny in the sun and attracts the attention. The giant mosaics are also spectacular.

Groeten, Marco
Great details on your photos Filip!
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased that you showed the golden man, he is great fun. Someone with a sense of humour must have decided he fit there nicely and cause some amusement.
ReplyDeletethe building is really an eye-catcher, like the Central Station, what a good idea to present them both:-)
ReplyDeleteI love the sense of fun that the gold man's creator must have had!! It gives the rather formal building some human interest!!
ReplyDeleteAnother picture perfect blue sky. You're destroying my opinion of Malaysia with all the haze at the moment. Oh how I dream of a blue sky.
ReplyDeleteI love the detail that you find in buildings.
ReplyDeleteLove the detailings on the building.
Zo leren we gebouwen kennen vanuit onze luie zetel :)
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying all of your Amsterdam posts.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have seen mosaics like that outside a building. Even if the renovations are going on inside, people can still enjoy the artwork outside.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos Filip! Thanks again for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos from the Museum in Amsterdam. Wonderful details from the outside.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend. Best regards, Synnöve
